NGWANA ENTERPRISES: CEO
APPRECIATION REMARKS
Ngwana Enterprises is very proud to announce
the success of the School Entrepreneurship
camp for the second consecutive year. The
success and impact of this caamp confirms that
indeed “Entrepreneurship has become a
phenomenon that is increasingly widespread
around the world”. Nascent entrepreneurial
activity—among students in Botswana has
shown a need to explore differences in types
and phases of the entrepreneurship process.
Fostering entrepreneurial awareness and
positive attitudes towards entrepreneurship are
high on the policy agenda of several economies
and schools in the Sub-Saharan Africa Region-
with more specific interest to factor driven
economies like Botswana. Ngwana Enterprises
strongly believe Entrepreneurship is the only
solution to unemployment in Botswana but
then again we believe that for any one to take
that route they should have grown up with that
kin of mentality, so learners should be fully
equipped at an early stage with an
entrepreneurial mindset. A society can benefit
from entrepreneurs of all ages.
The 2014 Entrepreneurship Camp has proven
that Entrepreneurship Education is a great way
to teach basic subjects to children who are
failing to learn through traditional academic
approaches, because it provides concrete
incentives. Entrepreneurship education teaches
young people that they can create jobs for
themselves and do not have to be victims of this
economic downturn but rather view it as an
opportunity to start a business. It also makes
them more employable because by running
their own small businesses, they learn how
business works and what makes an employee
valuable.
Most impactful at the 2014 camp is the fact
most of the learners where in agreement to the
fact that Entrepreneurship Education gets
cynical teens excited about school again, and
about their futures. It teaches them that they
can participate in our economy and make
money. They quickly realize that to do so, they
must to learn to read, write and do math.
Owning even the simplest small business fills a
teen with pride.
There are factual recommendations and
impacts such as Entrepreneurship education
empowering young people to make well-
informed decisions about their future, whether
they choose to become entrepreneurs or not.
They have become aware of five assets that
every individual has: time, talent, attitude,
energy and unique knowledge of their
communities. They have learned to use these
assets strategically as they move along in their
careers which may include creating businesses
and jobs, and building wealth in their
communities.
NGWANA ENTERPRISES is sincerely grateful to
all partners and stakeholders and sponsors who
will continue to support this camp to develop
the economy of Botswana. An appreciation and
recognition is extended to our international
partners who avail resources and funding that
makes our initiatives reach global channels and
ecosystems of entrepreneurs.
