180 Degree Rule The camera stays at one side of the 180 degree line to give visual continuity. If the camera is to move over the line, it must show that the movement of the camera. As the interviewer is on the left and the interviewee is on the right, the camera must show this at all times.

S-R-S: Shot Reverse ShotThe edit of cutting between two shots, alternatively to show a conversation. The footage is cut, back and forth, from the two cameras, that have been filming at the same time to

show each person talking.

It is important to observe the 180 degree rule when filming this shot.

Match on ActionMatch on action is where the perspective of the camera changes during a scene but

the scene continues to flow.

Example: A scene of a woman walking into a library to pick up a book, the camera then

changes the perspective to show what she is read, but continuing the action.

Cut AwayA cut away includes a shot which isn't in the usual action to give the audience a

narrative clue. This usually consists of an object or different location.

Example: Filming an event at sports day of some runners running bare foot. The shot will cut away to show glass on the grass

which will tell the audience something bad is going to happen.
