The main aim is to explore and show examples of multiple use and enrichment in terms of forestry and agricultural production, recreation and ecological values. By focusing the design, construction and management of new and young landscape elements and characters, the landscape lab is rather unic in a Swedish context. The recreative profit in a densly populated area is increasingly improved, whilst students, teachers and researchers are offered an outdoor laboratory for long term following up studies as well as shorter experiments, workshops and out-door learning. Currently the laboratory accommodates some research projects such as woodland edge studies, color experience in forest environments and long term dynamics and interaction in woodland stands. The lab in Alnarp is part of a landscape laboratory network in Europe including labs in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, Switzerland and England. We are very interested in a growing network and new collaboration partners in the fields of vegetation-, recreation- and art-directed research as well as about outdoor learning and learning by doing. The Nordic Jungle – in the City park of Lund This project is the last phase of the rearmament of the City park of Lund. The project is situated in the southern part of the park and is transformed with a Nordic jungle theme. Wooden decks, waterfalls and wetland vegetation frames the woodland designed area. The inauguration is set for the evening the same day we visit the park, but we are able to get a sneak peak. If you want to stay for the inauguration, it is planned to be held at 19:00 and is a part of “the Culture night” – Kulturnatten – with a lot of interesting things to see and do in Lund. https://kulturnatten.nu Bantorget Being the entrance to Lund’s old city center, Bantorget has an important role to play. The site dates back almost 1000 years but has been used as a park for the train station since the 1850s. The recent reconstruction has refined the old structure of the park, widening the pedestrian footways and create possibilities for urban life to thrive within and around the square. The site is an example of both a high-quality urban landscape project as well as being part of a strategic urban redevelopment, catering for pedestrians and bicyclists – creating a comfortable and beautiful environment in a central urban setting.
