4-H Omelet Breakfast was AWESOME! Breaking last year's record,

975+ Omelets made! WOW! But before we share all the work of the

4-H Youth we want you to look hard at the people back in the

kitchen!!! Working hard behind the scene! They start working

weeks and days before the event! They do the ordering, transporting

and chopping of the food! Oh, and don't forget the organizing of the

whole event! This event wouldn't run so smooth if it wasn't for the

Bremer County 4-H VOLUNTEERS!

THEY ARE AWESOME!!! Make sure to give a HUGE THANKS to those who donated moneythis year! Show them how much you appreciate their support!! I just wanted to thank you all for being a wonder team of Leaders,Committees, and Councils to work with. Without you the OmeletBrunch would not have been the same. I truly appreciate, all ofyour guidance that you have given throughout these last yeargetting this event together!  I hope we all can continue to grow as ateam for the benefit on the youth of Bremer County.

Bremer County 4-H Families!

It has been a month for the books. We need to try and look past

today, past next week, and plan for bigger and better tomorrows. We

will get back to normal. That normal may not look exactly the same

as it did before, but it will still be 4-H and it will still change the lives

of youth for the better.

During our "hibernation" we have some opportunities. Instead of

focusing on what we cannot do, let's focus on the things we can do

now that we couldn't in spring. I challenge you to set some goals for

Fair Project. There are many opportunities out there, now is the time.

We also have some positivity to share with our 4-H families. We have

been working hard over the past week to develop 4-H@Home pieces

that will continue our 4-H learning and growing while our young

people are forced to stay at home. Promote and encourage youth to

continue to engage in 4-H through the COVID-19 shutdown.

Two Step Process to Attend Fair:4HOnline and Fair Entry Deadlines

Step 1. 4HOnline: https://iowa.4honline.com

Step 2. Fair Entry: bremer.fairentry.com

There was a change made that you all should have noticed... FairEntry due date is July 1st, that same day as the Iowa State Fair. (markthis down).  Be safe, take care of friends and family, and look to the future. It is

out there!!

March 26, 2020To: 4-H Livestock ExhibitorsFrom: Iowa State University Extension & Outreach 4-H YouthRe: Livestock Identification Deadlines and County Weigh-insOn behalf of the Iowa 4-H Program and considering the current and ongoing situation regarding the COVID-19 virus, adjustments are being made to this year’s livestock identification process and county weigh-ins. Wehave been in contact with our partners; FFA, State Fair, and Iowa Association of Fairs to make sure we are allon the same page.• As of today, all county weigh-ins for meat goats, sheep and/or swine are to be cancelled. This is for thehealth and safety of our 4-H families and staff. Unfortunately, that means fairs that conduct rate of gaincontests will not be able to do so for the 2020 fair season. For those counties who’ve already had their weigh-in this spring, those contests could still occur.• The May 15 livestock ID deadline will be moved back to June 1. This applies to ALL livestock that areusually identified by May 15 including: Breeding Beef, Dairy Cattle, Dairy Goat, Dog, Horse, Meat Goat,Poultry, Sheep and Swine. Rabbits will remain at the July 1 deadline.• Tagging Procedures – we are asking county extension offices to work with families to obtain official 4-H eartags, or if county staff are comfortable could set up on-farm tagging. We are not requiring counties to do thatlatter, it’s just another option. Any process that is utilized should keep in mind good biosecurity practices andmeasures for people and animals. Additionally, for Identification purposes, we are asking all tagged animalsbe documented by photo that is uploaded to 4-H Online. Process will be outlined in the FAQs mentionedbelow.• Retinal Imaging – since 4-H sheep and meat goats are required to have retinal images collected for StateFair eligibility, we are hopeful that adding two weeks to the ID deadline will allow staff to collect those images, perhaps on the farm or if circumstances improve and social distancing is less of a concern, those animalscould come to a central site for image collection.

A Frequently Asked Questions document is being developed and will be posted on the 4-H Livestockwebsite, https://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/projects/livestock, as soon as possible. An email will also besent to all 4-H families currently enrolled in a livestock project via 4-H Online with these changes. We will

continue to monitor and re-evaluate the situation and make additional adjustments as needed. Weappreciate your understanding and want you to know we have our 4-H staff, families and youth members’absolute best interest at heart. We understand these are unprecedented times and will do everything we

can to ensure youth can exhibit their livestock projects this summer.Any questions or further information can be directed to Mike Anderson, State 4-H Livestock Specialist, at
