Engagement and InvolvementEngagement and involvement of residents,

service users and carers in shaping social services for adults is key to us.

We want to ensure that we are providing services that people want and value, that are value for money and achieve outcomes.

We want to develop further the Adult Social Services relationship with the LINk over the next 12 months.

Current Engagement methods 1. The Expert Customer Network

Database of current social care users and their carers who wish to engage in service development (60 members – mainly carers)

2. Barnet Family Carers Forum Independent carers forum led by carers

3. Barnet Older People’s Assembly Independent Older Peoples Group who raise concerns on behalf of older people

4. Service User and Carer Homecare Advisory Group 21 members who focus on homecare related issues.

Current Engagement methods5. Floating Support Service User and Carer Advisory Group

Service users and carers who focus on floating support issues.

6. Experts by ExperienceService users and carers who inform service developments e.g. Right to Control.

7. Personalisation and Direct Payments Group Support the development of Personal Budgets and Direct Payment processes.

8. Safeguarding User Forum Support the development of Safeguarding plans and processes.

User and carer engagement Partnership Boards

Influence the strategic direction for each of the health and social care client groups.

Health and Wellbeing Board

Currently being established and will contain a LINk member.

Commissioning plansWe want to be able to pull the views of LINk members into our commissioning plans. This will help provide additional evidence on:

Local ‘soft’ data on local needs, experience, trends and priorities etc.

Qualitative data to inform Joint Strategic Needs Assessment

Views from seldom heard from and diverse communities

Intelligence on purchased services including Self Funders

Identifying efficiency savings

Going ForwardWe would like to:

Review and clarify the arrangements which enable the LINk and Adult Social Services to work together

Agree areas where we could work together

Ensure clear communication channels and agree named contacts

Develop the role of a LINk member on the Health and Wellbeing Board
