Estimados investigadores antárticos, el Comité Nacional de Investigaciones Antárticas (SCAR-Chile), el Instituto Antártico Chileno (INACH), la Universidad de Magallanes (UMAG) y el Centro de Investigación: Dinámica de Ecosistemas Marinos de Altas Latitudes – IDEAL, tienen el agrado de invitarles al IX Congreso Latinoamericano de Ciencia Antártica (IX CLCA), a realizarse en la ciudad de Punta Arenas, Chile, del miércoles 4 al viernes 6 de octubre de 2017. Dear Antarctic researchers, on behalf of the Chilean Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR-Chile), the Chilean Antarctic Institute (INACH), the Universidad de Magallanes (UMAG) and the Research Center Dynamics of High Latitude Marine Ecosystems (IDEAL) are pleased to invite you to the IX Latin American Congress on Antarctic Science (IX CLCA), to be held in the city of Punta Arenas, Chile, from October 4th to 6th 2017. El Congreso Latinoamericano de Ciencia Antártica es una oportunidad para poner en contacto a la creciente comunidad de científicos polares latinoamericanos con investigadores y potenciales colaboradores de distintas regiones del mundo, así como una tribuna para comunicar los últimos resultados de investigaciones en el Continente Blanco. Para este encuentro se ha elegido a la ciudad de Punta Arenas, una de las principales puertas de entrada de los Programas Antárticos Nacionales a la Antártica, así como también, punto de partida de muchas expediciones de la “época heroica” de la exploración polar y hogar de aborígenes largamente adaptados a los duros ambientes subantárticos. The IX Latin American Congress on Antarctic Science is an opportunity to put in contact the growing community of Latin American polar scientists with researchers and potential collaborators from different regions of the world, as well as, will be a tribune to share the last results of the research conducted in the White Continent. For this encounter the city of Punta Arenas was chosen because is one of the main gateways of the National Antarctic Programs to Antarctica, the starting point of many expedition from the “heroic age”

PROGRAMA/PROGRAM El evento comprenderá tres tipos de actividades: 1 Talleres pre-congreso (lunes 2-martes 3 de octubre de 2017) 2 IX Congreso Latinoamericano de Ciencia Antártica:

PRESENTACIÓN DE RESUMENES/ABSTRACT PREPARATION Los trabajos se presentarán en forma oral o en sesiones de pósteres. La fecha límite para el envío de los resúmenes será el 1 de junio de 2017. Los detalles del formato de los resúmenes y de las presentaciones y modalidad se adjuntan a continuación. Los resúmenes deben ser subidos en la página del CLCA2017 a partir del 15 de abril de 2017. Papers will be presented orally or in poster sessions. The deadline for submitting abstracts will be June 1, 2017. Details of the format of abstracts and presentations and modality are attached below. Abstracts should be uploaded on the CLCA2017 page beginning April 15, 2017.

INSTRUCCIONES PARA LOS AUTORES/ INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS 1. La tipografía utilizada será Times New Roman 12 puntos. El idioma oficial del evento

es el español, pero se aceptarán también contribuciones en inglés y portugués. 2. Se aceptarán gráficos, fotos o dibujos en escala de grises y color, no sobrepasando el

tamaño de caja de 21 x 15 cm, con su leyenda correspondiente en español e inglés en tipos Times New Roman 10 puntos.

3. Titule el archivo en forma clara, de tal manera que permita su rápida identificación (evite generalizaciones del tipo CongAntar, Congreso2017, etc.).

4. El texto presentado deberá tener un máximo de cuatro carillas tamaño carta, a interlineado sencillo, incluyendo láminas, gráficos y toda la información: Título, Resumen, Agradecimientos y Menciones.

5. El texto debe presentarse en el siguiente orden: a. Título en español en letra mayúscula, bold y centrado. b. Título en inglés en minúscula y entre paréntesis. c. Autor/es en Times New Roman 12: Apellido, seguido de iniciales de los

nombres en Mayúscula y superíndice numérico de la filiación. Ejemplo: Vidal, R.1, Soto, N.2 y J. Aguirre3

d. Sitio de trabajo de el/los autores en Times New Roman 10. Ejemplo: 1Departamento de Ciencias Antárticas, Universidad Nacional de América, Calle Shetlands 0215, Ciudad Polar, Antártica. E-mail: polosur@gfail.com

e. Resumen expandido, que debe contener, implícita o explícitamente, Introducción, Materiales y Métodos, resultados, Discusión y Conclusiones, seguido en párrafo aparte por:

f. Agradecimientos (una sola línea), seguido inmediatamente por: g. Referencias Bibliográficas seriadas en orden alfabético, en tamaño Times

New Roman 10 puntos y según el siguiente formato: Rivas, S. y Plana, J. 2008. Cómo obtener muestras sin bajar del helicóptero. Journal of Extreme Sampling, 22(4):125-126.

6. No hay restricción en el número de comunicaciones libres que un investigador pueda firmar como autor (o coautor).

7. Los resúmenes serán publicados en el Libro de Resúmenes del Congreso. 1. The typography used will be Times New Roman 12 points. The official language of the

event is Spanish, but contributions will also be accepted in English and Portuguese. 2. Graphics, photos or drawings will be accepted, not exceeding the box size of 21 x 15 cm,

with its corresponding legend in Spanish and English in Times New Roman 10 points. 3. Title the file clearly so that it can be quickly identified (avoid generalizations such as

6. There is no restriction on the number of communications that an investigator can sign as author (or co-author).
