LEARNING ACTIVITY

An Adjective clause is a dependent clause

(dependent word + subject and verb) that describes a noun.

ADJECTIVE CLAUSE

A. For Person1. Subject Changed Pattern:

Person + who/that+ Predicate

Examples:a. The boy is kind.b. He visits her house * The boy WHO visits her house is kind

KINDS OF ADJECTIVE CLAUSE

2. Object ChangedPattern:

Person + whom/that + Subject + Predicate

Example:a. The girl is cuteb. He loves her indeed* The girl WHOM he loves indeed is cute

3. Pronoun ChangedPattern:

Person + whose + NounExample:a. The main is charmingb. His hair is white* The man WHOSE hair is white is charming.

B. For Things or Animal1. For Subject ChangedPattern:

Things+ which/that+ Predicate

Example:A. The book is goodB. The book is written by Covey• The book WHICH is written by Covey is good.

2. For Object ChangedPattern:

Things+Which/That+ Subject + Predicate

Example:A. The book is good.B. I bought it yesterday* The book which i bought yesterday is good.

3. For Pronoun ChangedPattern:

Things + whose/ of which + Noun ( Pronoun)

Example:A. The bycycle is cheap.B. Its colour is red.* The bycyle which colour red is cheap.

C. For Explained PlacePattern:

Adverb of place + Where/in which+ Subject + Predicate

Example:A. The house is hauntedB. We lived there last year• The house where we lived last year is haunted.

D. For Adverb of TimePattern:

Time + When+ Subject + Predicate

Example:A. The month was AprilB. The APEC conference was held on April* The month when the APEC conference held was April.
