Engineer Algeri is the founder and actual President of theI.A.L.T. (International Association of Laser Therapy). Hegraduated in electrotechnical engineering in 1977 andsince 1984 he is involved in the design and programmingof laser devices dedicated to physical therapy.

He created the first high power defocused laser (Nd:YAG)in 1988 and the multi-frequency laser “FP3 Project” in1996.

In 2007 he introduced the regulation of energy transfercontrolled by CPU. In 2012 he created the first multi-frequency device for veterinary laser therapy.

It is thanks to his constant desire for innovation that in2013 the first intra-articular laser was created, unique inits kind, which enables the diffusion of laser light directlyinto the tissues, through a needle.

Engineer Algeri is co-author of numerous scientificpublications in the field of laser applications in medicineand is the holder of 12 important patents related to thetransfer technologies of high laser energy into the tissues.

Dr. Balconi studied Medicine and Surgery at the Universityof Milan, where he also specialized first in Diabetologyand Metabolic Diseases and later in Radiology andRadiotherapy.

Dr. Balconi is Head of the Complex Radiology OperationsUnit of the San Raffaele Turro Hospital in Milan.Since 1999 he is lecturer of the «Diagnostic Imaging»course at the University of Milan.

Moreover, Dr .Balconi is currently President of the ItalianSociety for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (SIUMB),society which he is a member in since 1981 and wherehe has coordinated and directed various sectionsthroughout the years.

Dr. Combi graduated in Medicine and Surgery and laterpursued specializations in Physical Therapy andRehabilitation, Reumathology and Sports Medicine.

He has been lecturer at the University of Pavia, theUniversity of Florence, the La Sapienza University of Romeand the L.U.de.S. University of Lugano.

Dr. Combi has a wide experience dealing with top levelathletes. He has been a consultant physiatrist for JuventusFootball Club and Director of the medical area of InterMilan Football Club.

He is Head of Sports Medicine at the Italian AthleticsFederation.

During his career, Dr. Combi has been an invited speakerin over 140 scientific congresses, has participated in thewriting of 123 scientific publications and is member ofthe editorial boards of several sports medicine journals.

Dr. Conforti graduated in Medicine and Surgery from theUniversity of Parma, where she later specialized inPhysiotherapy. She continued her academic career at theUniversity of Pavia, with a Specialization in SportsMedicine.

She holds a Master in Podology and one in Musco-Skeletal Ultrasound, as well as being an accreditedAcupuncturist.

She is currently treating Doctor for the National Teams ofRhythmic and Artistic Gymnastics. Furthermore, she hasan extensive experience as corporate physician forprofessional football teams and is doctor in charge ofmany top level athletes in other sports.

Dr. Conforti has been invited to talk in over 70 Nationaland International Congresses and Updating Courses onPhysical Therapy, Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine.

Dr. Fachinetti graduated in Medicine and Surgery fromthe University of Pavia and specialized in bothNeurosurgery and Vascular Surgery.

He started practicing in the Neurosurgery unit of theHospital of Varese in 1979 and has been Head of theaforesaid Department from 2004 until 2015.

During his career, Dr. Fachinetti has been in charge of theNeurosurgery Department of the Laribosiere Hospital ofParis and the London National Hospital, as well as theCenter of Vascular Surgery of the Montpellier University.

He has lectured at the faculty of Medicine and Surgery ofthe University of Pavia from 1982 to 1987 and in 2000he has been lecturer of the course of spinal surgery at theUniversity of Bucarest. As well, he has organized andlectured numerous courses designed for neurosurgeons.

From 2011 to 2014 he held the role of Chairman of theI.A.L.T. (international Association of Laser Therapy).

Dr. Gasparre graduated in Medicine and Surgery from theUniversity of Bologna with an experimental thesis on theDiseases of the Locomotor Apparatus titled: “The effectsof ultrasound-guided detachment of the subacromialbursa in association with a rehabilitation program”.

He is currently specializing in Physical Medicine andRehabilitation at the Operative Unit of OrthopedicRehabilitation of the Hospital of Padua.

Within the rehabilitation context, he has focused theclinical and research activities on shoulder and kneepathologies, especially osteoarthritis, tendon pathologiesand rheumatology related diseases.

Furthermore, Dr. Gasparre collaborates at the ambulatoryand research activity of Prof. Frizziero, particularly withinthe area of infiltrative therapy, muscle and tendondisorders, ultrasonographic diagnostic and sportsrehabilitation.

After graduating in Medicine and Surgery from theUniversity of Turin, Dr. Stesina specialized in SportsMedicine.

He began his collaboration with the Institute of SportsMedicine in 1998 and there he carries out his professionalactivity as a consultant since.

He has many years experience as the Team doctor forTurin FC.

He currently holds the position of Health director ofJuventus FC, where he started his collaboration in 2010.

Since 2001 Dr. Stesina is medical inspector for the anti-doping service with assignments in national andinternational competitions and was Head of the antidoping service at the 2006 Turin Winter Olympic games.He is author of several scientific publications regardingphysical therapies.

Andy qualified from Cambridge University VeterinarySchool in 1989 and subsequently trained in surgery at theUniversity of Bristol and then at Rossdales in Newmarket,where he is now a partner.

His main areas of speciality lie in orthopaedic surgery andlameness, especially related to competition horses. He hasalways been interested in the application of noveldiagnostic and therapeutic techniques to lamenessproblems and poor performance.

He is a Diplomate of the European College of VeterinarySurgeons and holds the Royal College of VeterinarySurgeons (RCVS) Diploma in Equine Orthopaedics. He is

recognised by the RCVS as a Specialist in Equine Surgery.He has been team vet to the Japanese and British ThreeDay Event Teams and the British Pony Showjumping Team,as well as working for numerous private competitors atcompetitions and championships. He was an officialtreating vet for the 2012 Olympics in London.

In 2015, Andy was awarded Diplomate status by theAmerican College of Veterinary Sports Medicine andRehabilitation (ACVSMR), which means that he now holdsdiplomas in three separate areas of expertise (surgery,orthopaedics and equine sports medicine).

Marc Koene is one of the owners of Tierklinik Luesche, a28 vet equine practice in Germany. After his study of vet-erinary medicine he did the German track for Equine Vet-erinary Specialist.

He is the team Veterinarian for Equestrian Sports (DOKR)of the German dressage team and Team USA eventingwhen they are in Europe. Furthermore he is an Interna-tional Equestrian Federation (FEI) veterinarian and got hiscertificate as Chiropractor (IAVC, IACV certificated).

Recently he entered the veterinary scientific board of theInternational Association of Laser Therapy.

After 2 years of study at the Faculty of Physics, Dr. Lucianiattended the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at theUniversity of Bologna, where he graduated in 2003.

He later conducted an academic experience at theaforesaid faculty, in which he has been involved as asurgeon in the BAL (Bio Artificial Liver) Project andafterwards moved to Germany, where he spent the nextyears working at several equine referral centres,specializing in Equine Medicine.

He came back to Italy in 2009 and started his ownpractice focusing mainly on Orthopedics and SportsMedicine in high level sport horses, with a particularinterest in Advanced Imaging.

He currently divides his time working between the Northof Italy, Belgium and Holland, dealing mostly withshowjumping and dressage horses.

Beside his professional career, since a few years he isinvolved in the fields of nutraceutics development andlaser medicine.

Since 2013 he is chairman of the veterinary section of theInternational Association of Laser Therapy (I.A.L.T.),working closely with Engineer Algeri, father of modernlaser medicine, and sports physicians of prestigious Italianfootball clubs. Furthermore, he coordinates the scientificresearch regarding the FP4 SYSTEM Project between theExcellence Centres.

Dr. Mageed graduated in Veterinary Medicine in his homecountry, at the University of Khartoum, and continuedhis academical career at the University of Leipzig, with aDoctoral Thesis titled “Morphometric analysis of the sheepthoracolumbar spine using computed tomography and acomparison with the human correlate“.

Since 2012 he is a member of the IVRA (InternationalVeterinary Radiology Association).

He started working at the Tierklinik Luesche, where hepractices his skills in his main area of specialty, which isdiagnostic imaging.

He is actively involved in research and is author and co-author of various scientific papers.

Dr. Marc Oertly is 31 years old, Swiss, married with twokids and lives in the Netherlands. Until 2012 he wasmember of the Swiss jumping team and did up to CSIO5*Nations cup.

He graduated in 2009 at the University of Zurich inVeterinary Medicine. Subsequently, he worked 2 years forthe National Center of Horses in Berne as a veterinary.During this time he became a certified chiropractor.

Afterwards, Dr. Oertly moved to Germany and worked for2 years at the Pferdeklinik Kirchheim, in the orthopedicand imaging section, where he ended up working in a

leading position. He had the great opportunity to workwith many different sport veterinarians all over the world. Since March 2013 Dr. Oertly works for the Sport horseClinic in Valkenswaard, as the Head Veterinary at StalTops.

Furthermore, he is the Team veterinary for the Qatarjumping team and has the opportunity to work with manyinternational riders on the highest level circuits.

Mathilde did her veterinary education at the veterinaryfaculty of Utrecht University the Netherlands where shecompleted her Master of Science in the equine track.

In 2013 she started to work in the equine clinic inLuesche, Germany, where she is mainly working onorthopedics, equine sports medicine, laser therapy and

regenerative medicine. Here she also directs the researchproject on the use of the FP4 laser in sport horses andholds a PhD in laser therapy at the Faculty of VeterinaryMedicine of the University of Ghent (Belgium).

Mathilde is also the official DOKR team veterinarian forthe German driving teams (2- and 4 in-hand teams).

Dr. Ruggeri graduated in Veterinary Medicine from theUniversity of Parma with a thesis about the degenerativejoint disease of the horse.

After completing his degree, he collaborated for severalyears with the group of the clinic Equitecnica of Parma,where he became treating veterinarian for top level horsesin the racing and showjumping sectors.

Dr. Ruggeri’s main area of interest lies in the fields oforthopaedics and sports medicine. He has been teamveterinarian for the Italian showjumping team.

Furthermore, has followed top level sport horses aroundthe most prestigious circuits, like EuropeanChampionships and World Cup finals, collaborating withinternational trainers and riders.

In recent years his interest has also turned to thediagnostic and cure of the poor athletic performance.

Dr. Ruggeri is part of a pioneering project which involvesthe use, for the first time, of the intra-articular laser insport horses.

Stefan Wehrli decided to be a farrier when he was 5 yearsold. He completed his apprenticeship under TheodorBühler in Abtwil. He gained a lot of experience in thearmy, where he worked as military farrier. After that, heworked as a farrier for Hans Schäfer in Schlatt (ZH).

He became independent in 1995, and opened his ownforge in Heldswil in 1997. Since then, he has attendednumerous courses. He completed courses with Dr. RicRedden in the USA, with Dr. Scott Morrison also in theUS, and with Rob Renirie in Holland.

His clients come from all over Europe to his forge inHeldswil. Vets and owners alike value his accurate eye andhis feel with horses.

Since 2010, Stefan Wehrli organizes continuouseducation courses, to transmit his knowledge and sharehis experience with veterinarians and farriers.

He is the inventor of the WTS (Wehrli Traction Shoe). Thisis a patented high performance shoe for sporthorses.
