Welcome to ICN 2016o History
n After 3 SIGCOMM workshops, ICN started in 2014 as one of the premier conferences for Information-centric Networking technologies.
n ICN 2016 is the first in Japan.o Scope
n The fundamental concept in ICN is to provide accessing named data as a principal network service, evolving the Internet from today’s host based packet delivery towards directly retrieving information objects by names in a secure, reliable, scalable, and efficient way.

Kyoto and the Content Caching Technologieso In 2004, Kyoto Prefectural Police arrested
Isamu Kaneko, developer and distributor of a P2P software, Winny, on suspicion of aiding and abetting infringement of copyrights.
o In 2011, Supreme Court dismissed the prosecution appeal.
o In 2009, The Copyright Law was revised. Hereafter, the following technologies became legaln Use of cache memory in a network, search engines,
backing up of user files by Internet service providers, and copying of packets on routers.

congestion and in-network control; security and privacy; applications over ICN and ICN support for applications

o Two panelsn Opening panel: ICN “five years later”, a half-decade after
the First ACM Workshop on ICN at SIGCOMM 2011. n Closing panel : opportunities and challenges for Internet
privacy using ICN.

Goal: Advance knowledge & critically chart the road ahead
TPC Process (1/2)o TPC with 40 members
n 120 papers registered, 80 submissions finalized (55 full and 25 short).
o 2 phases selection processn Phase-1: 3 reviews/paper. Papers with
>1 positive review or with 0 decidedly negative reviews entered phase-2
n Phase-2: 50 papers (36 full and 14 short) received at least two additional reviews.

on June 28th. o At the end of TPC meeting, were
accepted (some with shepherding)n 15 full papers (27% acceptance rate) n 8 short papers (32% acceptance rate,
