Project Spotlight Where did I get this idea for the exhibit? What decisions did I make to be sure the exhibit is safe for a child to use? What age is this toy, game or activity appropriate for and why? For our 3rd spotlight, we're diving into Human Development. Human Development is also known as Babysitting! If you have siblings at home with you, this might just be the perfect quarantine project for you. In Human Development, you can make a toy, game or activity in six different areas. Today, we are making an "I SPY" toy, depending on your focus of the activity, this could fit into multiple areas. The six areas are: Social Emotional Development, Language and Literacy Development, Science, Health and Physical Development, Math, and Creative Arts. In our spotlight today, we're looking for a clear plastic container lid (a wide mouth such as a Gatorade bottle works the best). You will need a filler like rice and then some miscellaneous small items from around the house. Make sure your container is clean and dry on the inside. Fill the bottle with a small amount of rice, then add a few miscellaneous items, then add more rice and more items. Repeat this process until you are about an inch from the top of the bottle. Leaving space at the top allows for movement of items. Once you have all of your items and rice inside, you can use an adhesive like super glue to secure the lid. Be sure to make a "key" for your project to let your audience know what articles they are to be looking for in the bottle. To complete the project, you will want to make sure you include an Information Sheet and answer the following questions: 1. 2. 3. Infant, Toddler, Preschool, Middle childhood 4.
