    Background

    UNOPS Asia and the Pacific Office (APO) has been designated as the Fund Manager for the Three Diseases Fundin Myanmar (hereinafter referred to as the Fund). The Fund has been established by a donor consortium in order toprovide a humanitarian response to three epidemics (HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria) within the NationalCommunicable Diseases Programme context by engaging all key stakeholders.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the Communication Assistant he supportsthe implementation of the communications strategy to increase the standing and awareness of the Three DiseasesFund, managed by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). The Communication Assistant will beresponsible for the following duties:

    Delivery of Communications Services

    Ensures provision of effective communications support to the Chief Executive Officer focusing on achievement of thefollowing results:

    Primarily supports the implementation of the communication strategy for the Three Diseases Fund with issuesand stakeholder management, message development and branding, and provision and dissemination of publicinformation through appropriate channels.

    Supports production, editing and translation of relevant internal and external publications. Prepares public information materials and assists in facilitating media relations at national level Provides press clippings and news compilation. Assists on the development of the Funds website and handles content management systems (current platform

    for www.3dfund.org/) Liaises with printers and other suppliers to ensure production.

    Ensures technical oversight and quality assurance of translation/adaptation in Myanmar language of relevantinformation.

    Provides technical oversight and quality assurance of printing/production and dissemination of publications andaudio-visual materials.

    Writes synthesis in Myanmar language of 3DF success stories (Most Significant Change approach), bestpractices and lessons learnt.

    Facilitates and assists field trips to communication officer.

    II. Appointments, Meetings and Briefings

    Independently researches and provides background material from a variety of sources to the CEO and otherconcerned Officers in advance of meetings.

    Prepares background materials prior to executive meetings and events. Organizes or assists in organization of seminars, workshops, review meetings, exhibits, press briefings,

    interviews, etc.

    III. Administrative Support Organizes and coordinates with the Administration Unit all travel arrangement. Ensures travel and accommodation arrangements are made in timely manner. Draft letters and official memoranda on range of subjects.

    IV. Perform other related duties, as required.

    Required Selection Criteria

    objectives. Self-starter with proven track record in working independently Ability to work systematically, accurately, and under pressure Ability to assist in the design, creation and delivery of new and effective communications products and services

    Education/Experience/Language

    Education: Completion of secondary education with supplemental course training in

    Communications/Journalism/Marketing/Development Studies or other related field.

    Experience: 4 to 5 years of experience in similar field with at least 2 yearsat the national level in communication or public

    information for non-profit or international organizations, and/or in media sector Experience in handling of web-based content management systems Strong knowledge of IT packages, especially Peoples Soft, Word, Excel and Adobe Creative Suite or similar

    package a must;

    Language: Full literacy and outstanding writing skills in English and Myanmar languages are required.
