Why 3D Systems?7 Print Engines ~100 Performance MaterialsExpanding Technology PlatformInnovation Leadership~1,300 PatentsWorld Class CustomersGlobal Footprint~1300 Teammates
AUTHORIZED RESELLERProduct ListSummaryNavigation:3D Systems not only invented 3D printing 30 years ago, the company remains the leader in 3D printing today.
The company makes the broadest line of 3D printers, with seven different print engines that address virtually every need for 3D printing. But 3D Systems goes well beyond just making a full portfolio of printers; the company also engineers all the materials for its printers, and its Geomagic software products are tightly integrated with 3D printing.
In other words, 3D Systems isnt just a printer manufacturer, its your partner for everything related to additive manufacturing.4
Why 3D Systems?Lower price pointsHigher Performance3D Printers for Every Need
AUTHORIZED RESELLERProduct ListSummaryNavigation:No other company comes close to matching the expertise that 3D Systems has in 3D printing. Whatever your needs are, theres a printer from 3D Systems that will meet your needs.
Printers range from the Cube (upper left corner), that sells for under $1,000 and is geared toward home use, all the way up to ProX production printers that print thousands of plastic or metal parts in production quantities.5

Why Choose SLS 3D Printers?10Real Thermoplastic ManufacturingTough Mechanical PropertiesComplete Freedom of Design
High RepeatabilityVast Manufacturing Opportunities
AUTHORIZED RESELLERProduct ListSummaryNavigation:Selective Laser Sintering has 5 key benefits when it comes to production applications:
10
SLS Transforms ManufacturingConsolidate parts, reduce labor and eliminate tooling
Traditional manufacturing:15 parts5 SKUs 3 custom tools10 assembly checks
AUTHORIZED RESELLERProduct ListSummaryNavigation:3D printing offers new ways of producing components that transform how many parts are made.Traditional manufacturing and assembly constraints dont apply to 3D printing, freeing you to design parts that perform better and are simpler and cheaper to manufacture.Air duct exampleUsing vacuum forming or injection molding for the plastic body parts, this product requires 15 different parts, custom tooling for 3 parts (excluding the clamp) and 10 different assembly checks. It also requires all the logistics and costs around producing/ordering, storing and moving 5 storage keeping units
11
SLS Transforms ManufacturingConsolidate parts, reduce labor and eliminate tooling
SLS additive manufacturing:1 part1 SKU0 custom tools1 assembly check
AUTHORIZED RESELLERProduct ListSummaryNavigation:Air duct exampleUsing SLS, this part is printed in one piece, with no supportsEvery aspect of the part is equally strong no risk of fasteners coming loose or seals failingNo manual assembly required. Just remove the part from the printer, clean off excess material, and the part is ready for installation.
However, SLS is best made use of when not only consolidating parts, as in this airduct example, but when using the freedom of design that SLS offers to create ductings as in the next slide, that cannot be manufactured by any other manufacturing process
12
SLS Transforms Design and ManufacturingNo Tooling + Complete Design Freedom
AUTHORIZED RESELLERProduct ListSummaryNavigation:Zero tooling costs means that making unique, low volume parts is more economical.
These ductings make use of the smallest space available, e.g. in an airplane or car. The freedom of design allows for new ways of cooling or heating air. Creating the most functional geometry is no longer limited by the means of production. Engineers do not have to consider manufacturing restrictions such as deforming. Functionality wins.
13
SLS Complete Design Freedom
If you need to pass a mounting point through a baffle, elongate and form an aerodynamic teardrop shape to reduce sites for turbulence formation. This will both improve air flow efficiency as well as cut down on noise.
Always apply generous fillets to baffles to prevent side walls of ducts from splitting, especially if component will be exposed to pressure and or cycling of temperature.Tear drop shaped pass through
From: SLS Design Guide by 3D Systems
AUTHORIZED RESELLERProduct ListSummaryNavigation:- With SLS plastic parts, you can customize design features to maximize performance in a way that would be difficult or impossible to do conventionally- This example, taken from the 3D Systems SLS Design Guide (available at http://www.3dsystems.com/resources/sls-plastics-design-guide), shows how to design baffles that minimize turbulence and improve air flow efficiency14
Representative Parts15SLS Manufacture Flight Hardware On Demand
AUTHORIZED RESELLERProduct ListSummaryNavigation:- SLS allows parts to be manufactured on-demand, anywhere in the world- Shift inventory from the physical world to the digital- The F35 Joint Strike Fighter has more than 300 plastic parts that are 3D printed

AUTHORIZED RESELLERProduct ListSummaryNavigation:SLS parts are strong in all dimensions mechanical properties are consistent in X, Y and ZThey can be used for functional testing, like in this child car seat exampleThe same seat design was tested using a production injection molded chassis, and a chassis printed on a 3D Systems SLS printerPerformance data is almost identical, showing that printed parts can successfully substitute for injection molded parts in testing and production applications
