The 3D stockpile modelling and management system SMS 3 D ® SMS3D ® SMS3D is an advanced management information system that is used in bulk material stockyards to enable tracking and visualisation of parcels of material in 3 dimensional space. SMS3D is a proven intra-stockpile management system that tracks and models tonnage, grade and value through stockpiles enabling proactive grade management. The system is used to reduce and eliminate the payment of out- of-specification penalties by providing bulk commodity companies with a tool to optimise the stacking and reclaiming of a stockpile so that an accurate blend from the stockyard can be achieved. SMS3D is available as a stand alone product or if required it can be seamlessly integrated with QMASTOR’s Pit to Port, Pit to Plant or Port to Plant supply chain management information systems. Commodity/Industry Independent SMS3D has been designed to be commodity independent and can be employed throughout the bulk material supply chain wherever the need for highly accurate stockpile tracking is required. The system will provide tangible business benefits for the following industries: mining ports (export and import) mineral smelters power stations non mineral commodities SMS3D is particularly well suited to operations that have the capability to selectively reclaim sections of bulk materials from stockpiles or wherever there is a need for using accurate grade and tonnage predictions to plan and schedule downstream operational and logistics activities. Accurate, Real-Time Information SMS3D creates an accurate, detailed 3D model of the stockyard and its individual stockpiles. Each model will consist of the stockpile surface and an internal 3D block model highlighting the different grades contained within. Data retrieval is available in real time based upon the systems ability to interface with plant and/ or mobile equipment and via the use of complex algorithms that predict where material will be stacked and reclaimed. SMS3D supports a variety of stockpile construction, storage and reclamation methods including: truck and rail dumping stackers dozer push reclaimers storage bins underground valves silos SMS3D enables accurate prediction of reclaimed stockpile grades for process plant configuration, blend planning and reclamation/load planning. The 3D stockpile modelling and management system

SMS3D ®

SMS3D® SMS3D is an advanced management information system that is used in bulk material stockyards to enable tracking and visualisation of parcels of material in 3 dimensional space. SMS3D is a proven intra-stockpile management system that tracks and models tonnage, grade and value through stockpiles enabling proactive grade management.

The system is used to reduce and eliminate the payment of out-of-specification penalties by providing bulk commodity companies with a tool to optimise the stacking and reclaiming of a stockpile so that an accurate blend from the stockyard can be achieved.

SMS3D is available as a stand alone product or if required it can be seamlessly integrated with QMASTOR’s Pit to Port, Pit to Plant or Port to Plant supply chain management information systems.

Commodity/Industry IndependentSMS3D has been designed to be commodity independent and can be employed throughout the bulk material supply chain wherever the need for highly accurate stockpile tracking is required. The system will provide tangible business benefits for the following industries:

• mining

• ports(exportandimport)

• mineralsmelters

• powerstations

• nonmineralcommodities

SMS3D is particularly well suited to operations that have the capability to selectively reclaim sections of bulk materials from stockpiles or wherever there is a need for using accurate grade and tonnage predictions to plan and schedule downstream operational and logistics activities.

Accurate, Real-Time InformationSMS3D creates an accurate, detailed 3D model of the stockyard and its individual stockpiles. Each model will consist of the stockpile surface and an internal 3D block model highlighting the different grades contained within. Data retrieval is available in real time based upon the systems ability to interface with plant and/ormobileequipmentandviatheuseofcomplexalgorithmsthatpredict where material will be stacked and reclaimed.

SMS3D supports a variety of stockpile construction, storage and reclamation methods including:

• truckandraildumping

• stackers

• dozerpush

• reclaimers

• storagebins

• undergroundvalves

• silos

SMS3D enables accurate prediction of reclaimed stockpile grades for process plant configuration, blend planning and reclamation/load planning.

Business Benefits

Enhanced Management InformationSMS3D removes the guesswork from stockpile management and provides an accurate, real-time 3D representation of stockpile material in terms of tonnage, grade and value. The system enables improved scheduling and management of bulk material stockyards through the following system outputs:

– Planned and actual material movement reports (tonnage, grade, value)

– Current and forecast stockpile balances

– “What If” planning

– Stockpile status maps and reports

– Forecast grade and tonnage predictions

– Reclamation and blending schedules

– Remnant tracking

– Shipment status / reconciliation to contract

– Stockpile reconciliation

– 3D visualisation including contours, cut-throughs, pad rotations, cross and long sections

Flexible Design and DeliveryThe system is flexible and can handle variations in day-to-day operations such as changes to material, bulk density or angle of repose. The system is also capable of using digital survey files such as DXF for stockpile base profiles and stockpile surveys at key accounting periods.

The system can track parcels of material on a stockpile in block sizes ranging from 1 metre3 to 20 metres3. A raft of information pertaining to the block is available such as grade, product type and traceability details back to the source.

SMS3D is primarily designed for use in operational situations however it can also be used to investigate proposed changes to stacking/reclaiming procedures or changes to stockyard configurations.

Performance ImprovementSMS3D is ideally suited to be used in conjunction with QMASTOR’s bulk commodity management information systems (Pit to Port, Pit to Plant, Port to Plant).

Unified, the systems provide an advanced bulk material modelling and supply chain management epicentre providing unrivalled business improvement benefits.
