The Cimcorp 3D Shuttle™ solution uses proven gantry robot technology, combined with an innovative shuttle device integrated into the gantry, to store and retrieve totes required for order fulfillment.

How does it workThe system creates stacks on entry to the storage area. These stacks are then collected by one of the gantry robots and deposited somewhere within the robot’s working envelope. When a particular SKU is required to fulfill an order, the nearest corresponding tote is retrieved and deposited on the shuttle device. The shuttle travels along the gantry and transfers the tote to the outfeed conveyor, which then transports it to a conveyor line that feeds the picking stations. Once picking from the tote is complete, it is conveyed back to the entry point of the storage area.

Unrivalled efficiencyThe gantry robots’ stack-handling capability makes the storage of incoming totes significantly faster. Infeed capacities can exceed 5,000 totes per hour, meaning that 80% of the system’s operational time is used for the primary task of feeding totes to the picking area. Cimcorp 3D Shuttle™ can retrieve up to 1,000 totes per hour from the storage area. Rapid handling, combined with ergonomic order picking, enables fulfilling greater numbers of orders per shift. Use of the innovative shuttle and the reduced amount of equipment enable straightforward consolidation and 100% sequencing of totes. Cimcorp 3D Shuttle™ can make order fulfillment six times more efficient than a manual solution.

Optimum space utilization The Cimcorp 3D Shuttle™ operates a floor-based storage, enabling optimum space utilization. With goods accessed from above there is no need for space-wasting aisles and massive conveyor sequencers. This results in higher storage densities.

Thanks to the minimal amount of equipment required and the efficient use of space, each Cimcorp 3D Shuttle™ gantry robot is able to store an extensive number of totes.
