Our Goal ››› Is to allow people from Værøy to transform local plastic waste into valuable things and to support the existing recycling community with a 3D Printer machine. We can all be part of the global movement for a better life and environment, using basic tools and materials, to create more useful technology and a more sustainable living.

For the start, we want to develop this project with children, for giving them the chance to express there creativity, to create their own designs and then 3D print them, and in the same time getting them involved in kipping the environment clean. They also will have the opportunity and joy to learn about the creative tools, machines and techniques that will transform plastics in art.

There are already many pioneers in some parts of the world, enabling people to transform local plastic waste into valuable things. This is what drives us to share this idea - the satisfaction of being partof something bigger and important for everybody! ››› Find an easilydescribed video here – START!3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing (AM), refers to processes used to create a three-dimensional object in which layers of material are formed under computer control to create an object.

A 3D Printer and a recycling plastic system in our community:

• encourages everybody to recycle more and sort their own

plastic waste

• boost’s people’s creativity by the large number of applications

available

• will make room for more innovative ideas and therefore an

amazing playground for all generations!

• through these simple technologies we can learn about

transforming basic resources into art and how to use new

physical and digital technologies.

HERE you can find an interesting video about the 3D Printer

introduced in schools and children’s response to these ideas.

! This would clean up our shared environment, improve

living conditions and possibly create financial resources for

more futures projects.

! Recycling plastic products also keeps them out of

landfills and allows the plastics to be reused in

manufacturing new products.

! Recycling one ton of plastic saves 7.4 cubic yards of

landfill space.

! This machines can be made with basic tooling and

materials that should be easily available in Værøy or Bodø.

WHAT WE NEED:

• 1. SHREDDING machine - plastic waste is shredded intoflakes which will be used in the other machines to create newthings. You can select the output size of these flakes bychanging the sieve inside the machine to create differentpatterns and processes.

• 2. EXTRUSION machine – help with a continuous processwhere plastic flakes are inserted into the hopper and extrudedinto a line of plastic. These lines can be used to make newraw materials such as 3d printing filament, make granulatedplastic, spun around a mold, or used by you in new andcreative ways.

• 3. 3D PRINTER MACHINE – 3D printing is the process ofmaking a physical object from a virtual model. The process issimilar to the ink-and-paper printers with which we’re allfamiliar, but instead of traditional ink, 3D printers squeeze outa variety of different filaments and print layer-by- layer untilthe virtual model is reproduced in physical form.

• Here you can find a Full Review video of the CR-10 3D

Printer !

• On the internet we can find a large already created

simple video tutorials and here there are two tutorials

about how all this is easily accomplished with basic local

tools and... a handyman J ››› SHREDDING and

EXTRUSION machines – Just click on it!

• Here you can find an interesting tutorial video for

Building a Eco-friendly House, with no toxic additives or

extra materials.

THE BUDGET WE NEED

• ORIGINAL PRUSA -- Kr 4800 – Kr 7100 (source here)

CR – 10 (3D Printer) -- Kr 4015 – Kr 5015 (source here)

• Shredding Machine -- Kr 1800 - Kr 2800 (source here)

• Extrusion Machine -- Kr 2000 - Kr 3000 (source here)

• Desktop Computer -- ?

• Teacher Assistant -- ? Facilitates children’s a proper interaction with

the machines and equipment's, and also helping to build them creations.

* The budget shown above is estimated and will fluctuate according to the offers receivedfrom suppliers and from the people who are willing to help with this project.

** It is essential to watch all the video links in the presentation in order to betterunderstand the process of recycling plastics and how all the machines work. For thisproject to be achievable , we need the community’s help, for this IS a community projectand also a worldwide eco-friendly action and shared vision!

We still have a lot of unknowns about how this project should develop further more…so we decided to invite all of you interested (invite your neighbor to) for an opendiscussion about what can we do for this project to begin.

We will try to set the meeting for Friday (20 October) 19:00 at Sport Hall.
