Engine – Flywheel (Bell type) housing
Major Constraint• The maximum deviation expected as regards actual component
weight and the weight as seen in the mass properties
after modeling was not to exceed 4%
Exact Scope of Work
• 2D to 3D conversion to generate 3D CAD model
and then also to create associative 2D drawings.
Duration of the project:• This task was executed by 1 engineer in 35 hours.
Outputs to be delivered:
• 3D CAD model of the individual components
• Exact weight, density of the components as seen from the
mass properties in comparison to physical weights given (with max allowable deviation of 4%)
• Associative 2D drawings.
Inputs provided
• 2D drawings for study and estimation purpose.
• Templates.
• Properties such as density & weight.
Important Parameters
• Photographs of the components
(for visualization purpose).
• Physical component for understanding
purpose (actual physical measurements
of some dimensions were taken during modeling).

Objective:

Work Executed:

Study and analyze the input drawing.
• Understand Manufacturing feasibility.
Key Outcome:
• Mass & Volume of oil sump were calculated
with the specified density.

Scope :
• Alternative design for current arm rest (sheet metal).
• VA/VE to focus on framework, foams and insert
• Reduction of 20% material Reduction of 20% labor cost.
Output from Hema :
VA/VE activity conducted at Hema gave the following results:
• Current design modified from sheet metal to plastic
injection molding eliminating the need for external foam.
• Percentage reduction – 15 %
