3D Laser ScanningStrategy 3D laser scanning services use the latest technological advancements to provide detailed and reliable data in a fraction of the time, keeping your projects on time and under budget.
Step by Step Process:• Review facility equipment
arrangement in office to determine scan location and duration.
• Scan asset: Field trip to scan is typically 1 – 3 days, depending on size of scope.
• Perform laser scanning at multiple locations to ensure sufficient data capture.
• Daily review of data capture to ensure quality.
• Return to office and download data into system for processing and registration.
• Produce project point cloud to use within Autodesk modeling environments.
Laser Scan Benefits:Reduced Construction Time and Cost • Reduction and/or removal
of field welds.• Reduction of errors caused by
manual measurements.• Removes requirement for additional
field trip for dimensional verification.
Reduced Engineering Costs• Shorter field durations for
data gathering.• Back modeling of existing
components is removed or reduced.
• Additional data improves overall design and pipe routing.
Other Benefits:• Simultaneous or multiple projects
from 1 scan.• Capture all required information in
a single trip.• Obtain HD photos from each scan
location for ReCap™ real view.• Allows for complete model review
of the modifications.
Deliverables:• Point cloud will be delivered by
either FTP transfer or portable external hard drive.
• Customer can use point cloud in Auto-desk compatible products (i.e. AutoCAD®, Navisworks, CADWorx®, ReCap™, etc.).
• ReCap™ file (point cloud and HD panoramic images) viewable free version of Autodesk ReCap™.

Onshore Projects:Client/Project Scope
American MidstreamVK-817A
As-built platform in order to route new turbine compressor piping, fuel gas piping, and gas makeup. The laser scan conducted of the platform provided the designers with the precise location of exist-ing equipment and piping, ensuring accurate information when designing. Time offshore on platform was 2 days.
American Midstream MP-289B
Performed laser scanning of the asset to create as-builts of the platform. Client then used this data to complete reverse flow modification onsite.
Arena Offshore EI-182A EI-217BEI-341AEI-215BEI-251A
As-built five of the client’s platforms in order to provide them with drawings of the precise locations of existing equipment and piping onsite. The client then used these drawings to perform pipeline and topside modifications on the assets.
Castex EnergyWC-96A
Add a line heater to main deck of platform. The laser scan conducted of the platform provided the designers with the precise location of existing equipment and piping, ensuring accurate information when designing and performing upgrades.
Arena OffshoreEI-338KEI-314AMP-120CAMP-123A
Provided the client with detailed pipeline mapping for the asset. This data was used to create as-builts, assist in maintenance planning, and provided accurate information for future upgrade projects.
Fieldwood Energy WC-66E
Client used the as-built data to design and install compressor upgrades on the asset.
Fieldwood EnergyEI-342C
As-built this offshore platform in order to route new turbine compressor piping, fuel gas piping, and gas makeup. The laser scan conducted of the platform provided the designers with the precise location of existing equipment and piping, ensuring accurate information when designing. Time offshore on platform was 2 days.
Project Experience
Client/Project Scope
American MidstreamFort Henry Phase 1 Debottlenecking Project
The as-built (AutoCAD® Plant 3D) model was used to generate piping interconnect drawings for the required debottlenecking modifications in. Time on site to conduct the scan was 4 days.
American MidstreamEnlink Bridgeline Interconnect
Once the (CADWorx®) model was created, isometrics were generated for allocation of incoming gas to a new customer. Time on site to conduct the scan was 1 day.
Chesapeake EnergyVespar G Wellpad
Once the (AutoCAD® Plant 3D) model was created, isometrics were generated for duplication of the facility. Time on site to conduct the scan was 2 days.
Marathon PipelinePasadena Station
Once the (CADWorx®) model was created, isometrics were generated for the addition of the new equipment.
Murphy Oil & GasBriggs North CPFKone West CPFKone CPF
Once the (CADWorx®) model was created, isometrics were generated for the addition of the new equipment.
Range Resources11 Wellheads3 Wellpads
Conducted a laser scan of the wellheads and wellpads in the Ruston Louisiana area in order to create an as-built model of each in CADWorx®.
Summit MidstreamSeverus Compressor Station Skidded Equipment
Supplied all the skidded equipment for this 30 MMSCFD greenfield compressor station in New Mexico. All skids were laser scanned to confirm exact tie-in points on skid prior to shipping to the field for installation.
Offshore Projects:
Strategy has been on site at 100+ location to perform laser scanning since 2017. Project scopes consisted of scanning as-built conditions for facility modifications, as well as verifying fabrication of piping/equipment before delivery.
