ENERO 21th, 2018 THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Reflection in preparation for the next weekend’s Gospel

"So they left their father Zebedee in the boat along with the hired men and followed him." What did Zebedee think about all of this? His sons and his partners, James and John, suddenly left their post and followed Jesus. So there he stood in the boat with a crew of employees, but not one of his sons. We can't help but wonder whether Zebedee was in favor of this promise that his heirs would become "fishers of men." Most likely, this event was the cause of some familial tension. Throughout the Gospels, Jesus instructs us to love and serve others for the love of God. But the Lord also makes it clear that our devotion to him is meant to trump our devotion to anything-or anyone-else. For our part, we are called to allow this divine allegiance to exist in those we love, even when it means a sacrifice for us as well. Parents for example, like Zebedee, are called to encourage their children to follow the Lord's call. A son or daughter's vocation to religious life certainly exemplifies this kind of sacrifice for a parent who might have had a different plan in mind. But in truth every son and daughter has a vocation from God and parents have the opportunity to support and assist their children as they seek to hear and follow God's special plan for their lives. We don't know for sure how Zebedee responded to the vo-cation of his sons, but we know that James and John were counted among the Twelve Apostles and that their devotion and dedication helped to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Regardless of what he might have thought as he stood in that boat, we can be quite sure that looking back now, Zebedee can rejoice heartily in the choice of his sons to leave their nets and follow Christ.

Get strong increasing your dedication to Christ and His Church. It is a privilege to be a part of the Catholic Church who Christ Himself founded. Our Catholic Church was not and “invention” of human origin. CHRIST HIMSELF our Savior has established it on the Rock. I pray that the Maternal care of our Blessed Mother be your shelter so you can arrive safety to Jesus our Savior.

¿Cómo sería la Cuaresma si fueramos así?

-Si fuéramos automóviles, la Cuaresma sería el tiempo de cambiar el aceite y afinar el motor. -Si fuéramos jardines, la Cuaresma sería tiempo de fertilizar nuestra tierra y arrancar las malas yerbas. -Si fuéramos alfombras, la Cuaresma sería tiempo de darles una buena limpieza con el aspirador o una buena sacudida. -Si fuéramos baterías (pilas), la Cuaresma sería tiempo de recargarlas.

Pero no somos ninguna de estas cuatro cosas: -Somos personas que, quizá, muchas veces hemos hecho cosas malas y necesitamos arrepentirnos de ellas. De aquí la necesidad de hacer una buena confesión. -Somos personas que muchas veces nos dejamos llevar por nuestro egoísmo y que, por lo tanto, necesitamos empezar a pensar en los demás. De aquí la necesidad de la limosna. -Somos personas que muchas veces perdemos de vista el fin para el que fuimos creados por Dios. Necesitamos, pues, recobrar la vista. De aquí la necesidad de la oración.

3º DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO En preparación para la lectura de la siguiente semana

En este domingo damos comienzo a las lecturas del Evangelio de Marcos. Recordemos que celebramos el Ciclo B, y recorreremos el itinerario de Jesús de acuerdo a Marcos de la siguiente manera. El Evangelio se compone de un prólogo (Mc 1, 1-13). Éste describe la preparación del ministerio de Jesús. En los siguientes capítulos escucharemos sobre la predicación del Bautista, bautismo de Jesús y las tentaciones en el desierto, además de la revelación de Jesús como Mesías por medio de sus palabras y milagros. Después se narra el camino de Jesús a Jerusalén, la Pasión, muerte y Resurrección. Recordemos que el Evangelio de Marcos solo tiene 16 capítulos. La misión de Jesús fue proclamar la Buena Nueva de Dios: "Se ha cumplido el tiempo y el Reino de Dios ya está cerca. Arrepiéntanse y crean en el Evangelio" (Mc 1, 15). Este mensaje recuerda lo que se les pedía a los de Nínive y ahora a nosotros, el llamado al arrepentimiento, a la conversion radical. Llamado a vivir diferente, cambiar la conducta y las malas obras. Es un sentido de urgencia, no se debe de perder el tiempo en tanta tontería. Entrar en cambio radical no es fácil, se requiere de valentía continua -el Reino tiene exigencias. ¿Qué necesito de cambiar, de arrepentirme, en orden de seguir a Jesús más fielmente? El Reino está listo en los pobres, en los inmigrantes, en los sin voz y, claro, en la familia y amigos. Para entrar al Reino hay una condición y es sencilla: ser persona de paz haciéndola vida en los demás. Mantra para la semana: ¡santificado sea tu Reino, Señor!

QUÉ ES EL PECADO? Tenía un jovencito una libreta muy bien escrita, con problemas dibujos, etc. Sin saber cómo, se le cayó en medio del barro y quedó tan sucia que no podía mirarse. Así sucede al alma pura y limpia después que ha cometido un pecado mortal. Pecado es desobedecer a Dios no cumpliendo sus santos Mandamientos. Pecado es una ofensa que hacemos a Dios; es insultarle y decirle: No quiero amaros. Pecado es una ingratitud hacia Dios, que tantos favores nos ha hecho. ¿Has desobedecido a Dios? ¿Le has ofendido? ¿Le has sido ingrato? ¿Qué dirías de un joven flaco débil y enfermizo que quisiera luchar contra un hom-bre robusto y valiente que puede matarle? Dirías que es un loco, porque quedará vencido con peligro de perder la vida. ¿No comprendes ahora que es una locura que el hombre miserable se levanta contra Dios? El pecado es un loco que desafía a Di-os, que se burla de su poder. ¡Ay de él! Es cierto que Dios castiga al pecador. Cada día se levanta la opor-tunidad de buscar el bien, el perdón y la paz entre no-sotros. Este mundo necesita de ti y de mí, cada uno es especialmente llamado a transformar nuestro derredor.

Nuestra comunidad se ha ido afianzando con tu fe y con tu entrega. Cada vez más personas y familias se han acercado a nuestra parroquia en busca de Dios y todos nosotros debemos de ayudarles a encontrarlo.

Lucha por acrecentar más tu dedicación a Cristo y a su Iglesia. Es un privilegio el ser parte de esta Iglesia Católica que fue fundada por Jesucristo mismo. No fue “inventada” por manos de hombre, sino ÉL MISMO nuestro Salvador la afianzó sobre la Roca. Que el cuidado Maternal de María Santísima sea tu res-guardo para que siempre llegues a JESÚS el Salvador del Mundo.
