361st PAOC - NEWSLETTER
200 Duane Rd., Ft. Totten, NY 11359
MAJ Mannoel B. Gorospe Commander / CSM Gregory Santana
On Thursday, 22 September 2011, RecruitMilitary hosted a veteran’s job fair
at the Manhattan Civic Center in New York City. The event hosted over 40
companies searching to fill positions with prior service personnel. Amongst
the exhibitors were educational institutions, government agencies and
private companies.
“These employers are looking for the skill sets, discipline, and work ethics our
prior service members can provide,” said John Lundberg, National Account
Executive, RecruitMilitary. “We will host 60-70 events in 40 cities over the
next year.”
More than 500 veterans and reservists pre-registered for the exhibit. The only
requirement was to bring their resume to the event. This event was a great
opportunity for job-seekers interested in changing career fields to get an
idea of who may be hiring.
Federal agencies at the exhibit advised that although they are not hiring,
they are waiting for the green light. These functions, therefore, allow them
to continually recruit in anticipation.
College admissions counselors were present to help veterans choose a
college degree that best suits them. Several companies had immediate
hiring needs and took applications on the spot. The event was a great
chance for prior service members to get their resumes out and possibly
become employed immediately.

H
“Eat your veggies, don't
eat red meat, eggs are
bad for you. Or wait -
didn't I hear they are
good for you."
ealth and nutrition is an ever
evolving subject. Something is
good for you, and then it's bad
for you until it's good for you again.
What is "healthy" anyways? Being
healthy, or eating a healthy diet really
depends on an individual's needs,
family history and lifestyle. There is no
one size fits all diet as we are all bio
individuals. One person's body might
require more of a certain vitamin or
nutrient.
Instead of adjusting your diet based on
what foods are bad or good for you,
it's better to eat in moderation. With
some foods, it's more important to
focus on limiting consumption, but
when you put food on a bad list you
create an internal struggle.
So what about advertising? Every time
you blink another billboard or
commercial ad is telling you what to
eat. Walking into a grocery store can
be more than overwhelming. We have
more choices today than at any
other point in history and the whole
of the grocery store can feel like an
advertisement.
A good practice to follow in
shopping at the modern
supermarket is stay around the
outside edges as much as possible.
Try to first do a loop around the
grocery store buying as many fruits,
vegetables and live foods before
going down the aisles of plenty.
When it comes to diets, I am not an
advocate of any one type, but it is
better to eat foods as close to their
living form as possible. What does this
mean? Well, the majority of the
packaged food down the grocery
store aisles are dead foods and dead
foods are for dead people - or at least
great at creating a population that
gets sicker and sicker each year the as
US population is getting now.
Vegetables, fruit and whole grains are
living foods that have vitamins,
phytonutrients, enzymes and a lot
more of what your body needs where
processed foods generally have little
to no nutrient value.
When you do not consume the
nutrients your body needs your body
tries to create them. For example, your
pancreas creates enzymes and if you
are not getting enzymes in your diet
from eating fresh fruits and vegetables
the pancreas has to create them. If
the pancreas becomes overworked or
is not able to create certain enzymes
you end up with inflammation in the
body which is the root cause of most if
not all disease processes.
You can also kill enzymes in the food
you eat by cooking at high
Temperatures, but I don't propose
everyone start a raw food diet. As a
matter a fact, certain foods like
broccoli have a natural pesticide that
can be harsh on the body. Natural
pesticide are used by broccoli to
protect itself from bugs, but that
pesticide is hard for most people to
digest, particularly those with a
compromised immune system.
Yours in health,
Capt. Jason D. Pyeatt

Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) by Staff Sgt. Naurys Marte
Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) is a program which consists of administrative and medical measures to assess the Soldier’s readiness for deployments. Soldiers are required to complete one SRP annually, regardless of deployment status.
The administrative section (S-1) of the SRP is usually completed in the least amount of time. The soldier will visit several stations during the administrative portion of the SRP, including legal (Wills and Power of Attorney), chaplain, life insurance (SGLI), family situation changes (BAH, DD Form 93). Be prepared to provide any new information to add or delete from the current information on file.
The medical section of the SRP includes a series of medical examinations and evaluations. The soldier can also anticipate receiving immunizations, and a dental exam. The soldier will meet with a health care provider. The soldier will be classified as medically deployable or non-deployable based on the review all of the data collected on the soldier throughout the SRP.
November 5 is the scheduled SRP for the 361st PAOC: Remember to bring your medical file.
