Week by Week through The Year of Mercy

Last Sunday’s “Good Samaritan” parable concluded with Je-

sus’ command: go provide hands-on mercy to the next person

you meet, no conditions, no limits, no exceptions. But today,

Jesus seems to criticize Martha’s hands-on mercy of hospital-

ity, while praising Mary’s “Hands-off_ as “choosing the bet-

ter part” (Luke 10:42). Mary sat listening (10:40). So, is

the contemplative life of prayerful silence “superior”,

but the active life of earning a living, raising a family,

running parishes, schools, hospitals, and social ser-

vice ministries “second-class” discipleship? No;

Jesus; example is not either/or but both/and: silent

communion with God, boundless compassion for

people. If we do not seek Jesus in silent prayer,

how will we find Jesus in all other? If we do not

serve Jesus in others, will our worship, despite its

beauty, be anything but empty ritual? This Jubilee

Year of Mercy offers us Jesus’ two-fold challenge:

both “go and do” and “sit and Listen”

lleza, ser otra cosa que un ritual vacío? Este año jubilar de

la Merced nos ofrece doble desafío de Jesús: tanto "ir y

hacer" y "sentarse y escuchar"

Did you know?

Constant vigilance goes a long way to protect your children

from predators. So much of our society operates on blind trust,

and that trust can sometimes lead parents to make the wrong

choices when it comes to the safety of their children. Far too

many predators and abusers hide behind the well-known and

trusted adults. Parents should be vigilant when introducing any-

one into their children’s’ lives, and should not ignore any red

flags or suspicious behavior. It’s better to investigate than to

misplace your trust at the expense of your child’s safety. For a

The Knights’ Corner Pre-sale tickets for the next BBQ will be on

Queen of Angels Year of Mercy Pilgrimage

On July 29, 2016 at 6:00p.m.

at St. Louis De Monfort Church

(Designated as Pilgrim Church by Archbishop Jose Gomez,

During the Jubilee Year of Mercy).

* Daily Mass*

It would be edifying to see every family coming to daily

Mass at least once a week besides Saturday evening or

Sunday. Please encourage our young people to come to

daily Mass and if you are not working or on a break dur-

ing this summer, give a good example by coming with them. We

all need so much spiritual help these days. What a great way to

start off the day by participating in daily Mass and receiving Christ

in Holy Communion. Daily Mass lasts approximately ½ hour.

Teachers, Teacher’s Aids and office help

are needed for the upcoming school year

Religious Education class registrations

will start August 6th and 7th after each Mass in the Parish

Hall, and again August 13th and 14th, also after every Mass

in the Parish Hall. Baptismal Certificates must be presented

at the time of Registration. Students who are not Baptized are

still eligible to enroll in Religious Education classes but must

make arrangements for Baptism prior to receiving the Sacra-

ment of First Holy Communion at the Church Office.

altar servers, at the ministry fair.

Baptismal Class The exciting and meaningful experience of Baptism

strengthens our families and parish community with God.

Whether baptized as a baby or an adult, Parents and God-

parents need to attend a Baptismal class before baptizing his

or her child. Baptismal classes are scheduled the last Tues-

days of each month. The next scheduled baptismal class is

July 26, 2016 at 6:30p.m.

NFP Awareness Week

The dates of Natural Family Planning Awareness Week

are: July 24th – 30th, 2016. These dates highlight the an-

niversary of the papal encyclical Humanae Vitae (July

25) which articulates Catholic beliefs about human sex-

uality, marriage, conjugal love and responsible

parenthood.

opera con confianza ciega, y esa confianza algunas veces puede

PFN Semana de la conciencia

Las fechas de la Semana de Concientización de Pla-

nificación Familiar Natural son: 24-30 de julio, 2016. Estas fechas destacan el aniversario de la encíclica

papal Humanae Vitae (25 de julio) que explica bien

las creencias católicas sobre la sexualidad humana,

matrimonio, amor conyugal y paternidad responsable.

Misa Diaria Seria edificante ver a cada familia venir a la Misa diaria a

menos una vez por semana aparte del sábado en la tarde o

el domingo. Por favor animen a nuestra juventud a venir

a Misa daría y si no esta trabajando de un buen ejemplo y

venga con ellos. En estos día participando en la Misa diaria y reci-

biendo la Santa Comunión. La Misa Diaria dura aproximadamente

½ hora. El Rosario se reza 30 minutos antes de la misa durante la

semana (en inglés). Los invitamos a que nos acompañen.

Clases Bautismales

La experiencia emocionante y significativa del Bautismo for-

talece nuestras familias y de la comunidad parroquial con

Dios. Ya sea bautizado cuando era un bebé o un adulto, el

Bautismo es el primer paso en un viaje de por vida con Dios.

Los padres y padrinos deben asistir a una clase de bautismo

antes de bautizar a su hijo o hija. Clases bautismales se han

programado el último martes de cada mes. La próxima clase

bautismal programada el 26 de Julio, a las 6:30pm en el salón

parroquia
