From the Desk of Father Bosco Dear Friends, The Gospel story is a lesson on growth in faith. The climax of the story comes when the man makes a profession of faith in Jesus, ‘Lord, I believe.’ His journey from blindness to sight symbolizes the journey from unbelief to faith, which is a journey from darkness to light. St. Paul says, ‘Once you were in darkness, but now your are light in the Lord’ (Second Reading). Sadly, while the blind man opens more and more to

the light, the Pharisees, who are physically sighted, become more and more spiritually blind. In giving sight to a blind man Jesus shows that he is ‘the light of the world’. The First Reading talks about the depth of God’s seeing. While people look at appearances, God looks at the heart. I wish you and your loved one a happy and fruitful Lent.

OUR CALL TO STEWARDSHIP “Not as man sees does God see, because man sees the appearance but the Lord looks into the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 How often do we invest our time, talent and treasure in creating an appearance that does not matter at all to God? We strive to impress with our clothing, home, career, possessions, car and other marks of distinction. But none of these illusions of greatness will impress God. Instead, He will look into our hearts to see how much we loved Him, how much we loved others and how we showed that love by the way we used our time, talents and treasure here on earth.

Please pray for our sick: Bernie Wiegel, Glenn Garvey, Dale Symons, Eileen White, Joyce Von Rueden, Rita Marty, Heidi Brunkow Moran, Paul O’Brien, Jerry Nethery, Jean Stopper and Adler Roelli. If you know of someone seriously ill and needs community prayers, please inform Father Bosco.
