PROGRAM REPORT
The mission of South Carolina Business Week is to contribute to the preparation of young adults for the business environment by introducing them to the
principles of leadership, teamwork and the American free enterprise system while promoting self-reliance, individual responsibility and entrepreneurship.
Business Week continues to offer South Carolina students the unique opportunity to attend the event at little cost to the student. The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce is able to do this with the aid and support of corporate sponsors. We appreciate and acknowledge the following sponsors who made the 2017 program possible. Companies interested in providing student sponsorships for Business Week should visit www.scbusinessweek.com, or contact Meredith Williams at 803-255-2613.
WHO MAKES BUSINESS WEEK POSSIBLE?
PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS
For more than 30 years, the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, the state’s unified voice of business, has been encouraging high school students to dream big for themselves by enabling them to lead companies during the annual South Carolina Business Week youth camp. This year the event was held July 23-28, 2017 at Presbyterian College in Clinton and offered 180 bright, young adults the unique opportunity to interact with real business leaders (company advisors) along with their peers to learn about decision-making and the ins and outs of running a company.
COMPANY CEO’S:
During the week, teams of students develop mock companies, led by company advisors borrowed from some of South Carolina’s most successful businesses. Students attend workshops to learn about all aspects of business and test their newly acquired knowledge in a business simulation designed to achieve a real company feel with challenging, real-world situations. Along with an emphasis on teamwork and leadership skills, Business Week includes programs on personal and business finance, ethics, leadership, diversity in business and entrepreneurship.
