Celebration of event must be connected to the celebration of Christian life.

Firstly, I would like to thank those who have took part in celebrating and welcoming the 1st of January, New Years Day in 2020. The event was celebrated in many different and colorful ways. During the New Years night, there were new years parties, church fellow-ship, crusades, fireworks shooting and lanterns in sky and bells ringing to mark the wonderful words of GOOD BYE & WELCOME. Good bye to 2019 and Welcome to 2020 or in other words, the old must go and new must come. What a great celebration! However, the question is… Where do we come in to connect our celebration of life as Christians to continue on our Christian Journey? We must say good bye or say farewell to our corrupt life and welcome our New Start in life.

Psalms 8 “ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. We must fear the Lord because He is the Living God and Creator of Heaven and Earth. His greatness is seen in the world. God crown us human beings, give us glory and honor, placed us human begins over the creation”. What a blessing we receive from God and we never think about that. The world is driving us away with materialistic things and we forget to stay close to our Creator. In todays world, the things we expect to happen to us do not turn out the way we want them too or think they should. The world is a land of the unexpected. Situation comes as peace givers bring joy and celebrations to our life, but situations also comes to bring disaster. STRONG WINDS DESTROY FOOD GARDENS & HOUSES IN KONGOHU VILLAGE, POPONDETTA DIOCESE

Kongohu village in the Ijivitari district, Popondetta had been facing continuous rainfall and strong winds since late December 2019. A situation report submitted by reporting officer Elijah Sarigari confirms that the continuous rainfall and strong winds have destroyed food gardens, houses and power supplies. In addition, a rapid assessment was conducted by community volunteers and showed that out of 812 people in that village, three people are injured, 8 houses completely destroyed, 39 houses partly destroyed and 63 food gardens have been severe-ly damaged. “Vegetable gardens as the main source of food and cash income for this community is now destroyed and most families are hit hard. Families whose houses were fully damaged need immediate assistances. For those dwelling houses partly damaged can be assisted in the provisions of nails, ropes and iron sheets”. The Situation report has highlighted that Kongohu village needs help from the wider Anglican community. Their immediate needs is food and shelter. Please contact the Anglican National Office via email [email protected] if your church/parish can donate or give in cash or kind to this community in need.
