Él dijo a Tomás: "¿Has creído porque me has visto?

30th Sunday in Ordinary Time Helen Keller wrote, “The most beautiful things in the world can’t be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart!” Though physically blind, Helen Keller had an amazing inner-sight! In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus heals a blind man named Bartimaeus because of his faith. Bartimaeus believed that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of David of whom Prophet Jeremiah had prophesied as we hear in the First Reading. The Messiah would restore the people of Israel, including the blind and the lame. It is said that “there is no one so blind as the one who refuses to see.” On many occasions in the Gospels, Jesus mentioned about those who have eye-sight but refused to see. Jesus came to heal not only those who are physically blind but also those who are spiritually blind. Lack of faith in God leads one to spiritual blindness. There is so much spiritual blindness in our society today. Bartimaeus believed in Jesus even before seeing him. He said, “Master, I want to see.” Jesus said, “Your Faith has saved you.” This is real faith. This is what Jesus demanded from Thomas the Apostle after his Resurrection. He said to Thomas, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen me and yet believe.” This is the kind of Faith that is required of us as Catholic Christians especially when we come to participate in the Holy Eucharist. The greatest gift we can offer to the future generation is the gift of witness to our faith. Let us be courageous in sharing our faith in our own families and with all those we encounter in our daily lives. Father Sunny Pastor

If you held a mirror up to your life,

would it reflect God’s love and grace?

If you are struggling with this, try

changing your attitude from “I want

more” to “thank you God for

everything you have given me, I have

enough to share”. This change in

perspective will bring you joy through

service to others.

""—Puedes irte —le dijo Jesús—; tu

fe te a sanado. Al momento recobró

la vista y empezó a seguir a Jesús

por el camino." Marcos 10:52

La fe es creer en algo a pesar de no

poder verlo.
