Dear Parents and Carers,

Last week I had the privilege of attending the

NSW Primary Principal’s Annual Conference.

This was a wonderful opportunity for me to

learn about current educational research and

best practice from world leading experts.

Amongst the speakers were Dr Simon

Breakspear who illustrated ways to lead

meaningful progress in NSW Primary Schools,

Bill Lucas who has researched how to develop

creative thinking in all learners and how to

assess it and Sally Dominguez who provided a

framework for building innovation in schools. I

will be sharing this knowledge with the staff

over the coming weeks.

Central Coast Public Education Awards in

Recognition of World Teachers’ Day 2017 -

Congratulations to Mrs Kable who was

nominated by the teaching staff for this year’s

award. Mrs Kable is an amazing teacher who

shares her knowledge and experience with all

staff, ensuring the best learning outcomes for

our students. This evening I will have the

pleasure of accompanying her to a dinner at

Mingara Recreation Club.

World Teachers’ Day - Last Friday was World

Teacher’s Day. This special day focuses

attention on the work teachers do to support

all students in achieving their personal best. I

every one of you. Your outstanding contributions do

not go unnoticed.

External Validation - This term I am participating in the

Department of Education’s External Validation program.

This involves me spending time in other schools looking

at the progress and achievements they have made

toward achieving the goals set out in their school plans.

Next Monday and Tuesday I will be visiting another

school on the South Coast of NSW.

Staff Development Days– Our school staff are training in

the Management of Actual or Potential Aggressive

training program (MAPA). This is a 12 hour registered

course which will be run after hours throughout the

term. Because of this, and previous training done at the

beginning of the year, staff will not be required to

attend school on Monday 18 December or Tuesday 19

December. The last day of school for all students is

Friday 15 December.

Grandparents Day - Yesterday was NSW Grandparents

Day, I hope you and your family had the opportunity to

celebrate the special times you have shared with your

children’s grandparents. On Friday we will be holding

our own special day for grandparents. I hope you can

join us at school, as I know the children are very exited

by the events we have planned.

I hope you have a sensational week!
