Logo Design Competition For the 30 th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations

between Brunei Darussalam and the People’s Republic of China

The year of 2021 marks the 30 th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the People’s Republic of China. To commemorate the historical exchanges between both countries; the 30 th anniversary of this relationship, and strengthen further friendship, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Brunei Darussalam, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports of Brunei Darussalam (hereinafter referred to as “the Organisers”), have agreed to organise a logo design competition.

The terms and conditions for the competition are stated as follow:

1. Theme

The work must capture the theme commemorating the 30 th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the People’s Republic of China, highlighting their friendship and strategic cooperative partnership.

2. Participants

The competition is open to all Brunei and Chinese citizens who are residing in Brunei Darussalam, especially the youth and students.

3. Requirements

i. The designs should be original or novel designs, in the form of pictures of the drawings that are concise and bright, capturing the theme prominently.

ii. The designs should be of the PNG or JPG type, printed on A3 size paper with dimensions of 1000 pixel x 1000 pixel with 300 PPI and file size of no more than 5 MB.

iii. The designs should be accompanied by detailed description of the Logo, including the design concept, symbolic meaning of graphics and colors used, the author's biography, photograph and contact details.

iv. Participants may be individuals or groups, and there is no limit to the number of designs submitted. All entries shall remain the property of the Organisers and are not returnable.

v. Participants acknowledge and agree that the submission of any design shall not be as a result of outsourcing from any third party.

vi. Participants acknowledge and agree that all copyright and other rights in the logo including rights to the drawings, text or any other content submitted to the Organisers in respect of this competition shall be jointly and exclusively owned by the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam (hereinafter referred to as the “Government”) and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Brunei Darussalam (hereinafter referred to as the “Embassy of China”).

vii. All participants hereby authorise, consent and grant the Government and the Embassy of China the absolute and unrestricted right to all intellectual property rights, including the right to use, reproduce, modify, publish, and/or otherwise deal with (whether for commercial and noncommercial purpose) of the submitted logo design(s);

viii. Participant/s represent and warrant that his/their entry is his/their own original work/creation does not contain, incorporate or otherwise use any content, material or element owned by a third party or entity.

ix. The designs shall not contain any content, element or material that violates a third party’s intellectual property rights, including but not limited to copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, logos, contract and licensing rights or any other intellectual property rights.

x. The designs deemed to be someone else’s work shall automatically be disqualified from the competition.

xi. The Organisers reserve the absolute discretion to amend the Terms and Conditions at any time.

xii. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by, and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of Brunei Darussalam.

4. Submission of Entries

i. Each participant must complete a registration form that can be downloaded from www.kkbs.gov.bn and www.facebook.com/Chinaembbn

ii. The designs should be submitted in soft copy and hard copy (printed on A3 size paper).

iii. Soft copy of the designs to be e-mailed to bkk@kkbs.gov.bn and chinaembassyedu@gmail.com. Please state in your email subject the wordings "Name + Logo Design Competition".

iv. Hard copy of the registration form and designs should be submitted to Level 5, Culture and the Arts Section, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Brunei Darussalam.

v. The deadline is 3 p.m. on 19 November 2020, Brunei time.

5. Awards

i. The winners will be informed directly by the Organisers by telephone or email and invited to an award presentation ceremony.

ii. Prizes are as follows:

Winner: Grand Prize of Huawei Laptop 1 st Runner Up (2 persons): Huawei Tablet 2 nd Runner Up (5 persons): Huawei Smart Watch Consolation Prizes (10 persons): Huawei Sports Band

iii. Potential winners will be shortlisted by the Organisers and the winner will be selected by a panel of judges appointed by the Organisers.
