Lika Electronic complements the entry-level series of draw wire units introducing to the market the versatile and dependable SFE model. It comes along with the release of the twin SFP string-pot model unveiled just last month ( see more details in our January 2012 newslet- ter ). SFE is offered in a compact and sturdy casing encompassing both the “cable pulling” mechanism and an integral incremental encoder. This results in a multi-purpose and cost-effective measuring system boasting one of the easiest and most versatile types of installation and capable of ensuring really good and reliable performances at a very low price. SFE draw-wire unit is designed to measure speed and position in a variety of industrial applications through a very simple yet proven operating principle. One end of the stainless steel cable is connected to the moving equipment while the other end is wound onto a drum. The typical back and forth travel of the moving equipment causes the cable to reel and unreel and thus the linear movement to be converted into a rotative motion detected by the encoder which is coupled to the drum. As the twin SFP model, the SFE draw wire unit features some remarkable benefits. First of all it boasts a miniature, lightweight yet robust aluminium construction, thus it is suited to be installed when space is limited (overall dimensions are 56 x 55 x 64 mm). Moreover its profitable and smart design allows the wire to provide safe measurement even in inacces- sible environments, keeping the sen- sing circuitry protected from exter- nal influences. The cable in stainless steel is offered in 1500 and 2000 mm measuring length versions and can operate at a maximum speed of up to 2000 mm/sec. The stroke per turn is 100 mm. The wire can be fastened easily and inexpensively to moving equipment using just the provided nuts and no further component is required. SFE wire-actuated unit is fitted with an integral incremental encoder which provides square wave signals with additional complementary signals (AB0, /AB0) via Universal PP/LD +5VDC +30 VDC output cir- cuit. It can boast a resolution ran- ging between 1 and 0,05 mm.
