Chapter:
Sincerity and Being Conscious of One’s Intention
1). On authority of `Umar bin al-Khattab, he said I heard the
Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص say:
ال بلن ية ا الناس إناا األاعما انات ،يا أاي ها إناا المرئ ماا ن اواى، فامان كا واهجراته إلا الل واراسوله، فاهجراته إلا الل واراسوله، وامان هااجارا إلا دن ياا
ا، فاهجراته إلا ماا هااجارا إلايه ا أاو امراأاة ي ات ازاوجها يصيب ها
“O people! The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions, and
every person will get the reward according to what he has
intended. So, whoever emigrated for Allah and His Apostle, then
his emigration was for Allah and His Apostle, and whoever
emigrated to take worldly benefit or for a woman to marry, then
his emigration was for what he emigrated for". [Agreed Upon]
Chapter: Repentance
2). On authority of Anas said the Messenger of Allah ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:
وباة عابده من أاحادكم ساقاطا أاف راح بت ا عالاى باعريه،الل واقاد أاضاله ف أارض فاالاة
"Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His slave than
anyone of you is pleased with finding his camel which he had lost
in the desert". [Agreed Upon]
Chapter: Patience
3). On authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:
ه عندا الغاضاب لك ن افسا لايسا الشديد بلصراعاة، إناا الشديد الذي يا
"The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his
strength, but the strong is the one who controls himself while
in anger." [Agreed Upon]
4). On authority of Abu Saeed al-Khudri and Abu Huraira on the
authority of the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:
يصيب المسلما من ناصاب واالا واصاب واالا هام واالا حزن واالا أاذى واالا ماا ه باا من خاطاايا ا، إال كافرا الل اكها ة يشا غام حات الشوكا
"No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor
distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives
from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that".

Chapter: Truthfulness
5). On authority of Abdullah bin Masood said the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:
الب ، واإن الب ي اهدي إلا الانة، واإن الرجلا إن الص دقا ي اهدي إلا يقا، واإن الكاذبا ي اهدي إلا الفجور، واإن لاياصدق حات ياكونا صد
كاذاب الفجورا ي اهدي إلا النار، واإن الرجلا لاياكذب، حات يكتابا عندا الل
"Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to
Paradise. And a man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes
a truthful person. Falsehood leads to Al-Fajur (i.e. wickedness,
evil-doing), and Al-Fajur (wickedness) leads to the (Hell) Fire,
and a man may keep on telling lies till he is written before Allah,
a liar". [Agreed Upon]
Chapter: Being Conscious of Allah
6). On authority of Abu Huraira said the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:
تا راة الل أان يا المؤمن ماا حارما الل إن اللا ي اغاار واغاي "Allah has a sense of Ghira, and Allah's sense of Ghira is
provoked when a believer does something which Allah has
prohibited". [Agreed Upon]
Chapter: The Fear of Allah
7). On authority of Abu Huraira said the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:
أاكرامهم أات قااهم "قيلا للنب صلى هللا عليه وسلم مان أاكرام الناس قاالا ا ناسأالكا ." ، لايسا عان هاذا فاأاكرام الناس يوسف "قاالا .قاالوا يا ناب الل
ليل الل ناب الل ابن ناب الل ا ."ابن ناب الل ابن خا قاالوا لايسا عان هاذا "قاالا .قاالوا ن اعام ."ف اعان ماعاادن العاراب تاسأالون "قاالا .ناسأالكا
فاخيااركم ف الااهلية خيااركم ف اإلسالام إذاا فاقهوا
Some people asked the Prophet: "Who is the most honorable
amongst the people?" He replied, "The most honorable among
them is the one who is the most Allah-fearing." They said, "O
Allah's Prophet! We do not ask about this." He said, "Then the
most honorable person is Joseph, Allah's Prophet, the son of
Allah's Prophet, the son of Allah's Prophet, the son of Allah's
Khalil." They said, "We do not ask about this." He said, "Then
you want to ask me about the Arabs' descent?" They said,
"Yes." He said, "Those who were best in the pre-Islamic
period, are the best in Islam, if they comprehend (the religious
knowledge)”. [Agreed Upon]
Chapter: Certainty and Trust in Allah
8). On authority of Ibn ‘Abbas that the Messenger of Allah ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص used
to say:
إلايكا أان ابت وابكا اللهم لاكا أاسلامت وابكا آمانت واعالايكا ت اواكلت واخااصامت اللهم إن أاعوذ بعزتكا الا إلاها إال أانتا أان تضلن أانتا الاى
وتونا وت واالن وااإلنس يا الذي الا يا
"O Allah, it is unto Thee that I surrender myself. I affirm my
faith in Thee and repose my trust in Thee and turn to Thee in
repentance and with Thy help fought my adversaries. O Allah, I
seek refuge in Thee with Thine Power; there is no god but Thou,
lest Thou leadest me astray. Thou art ever-living that dieth not,
while the Jinn and mankind die”. [Agreed upon]
Chapter: Hastening to Perform Righteous Actions
9). On authority of Abu Huraira said a man came to the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص
and said to him:
قاة أاعظام ؟ ف اقاالا : أان تاصادقا واأانتا ف اقاالا يا راسولا الل أاى الصداتامل الغنا واالا تهل حات إذاا ب الاغات صاحيح شاحيح تاشاى الفاقرا وا
ا أاالا واقاد كاانا لفالان ا والفالان كاذا اللقوما ق لتا لفالان كاذا
“Messenger of Allah, which charity is the best? Upon this he
said: That you should give charity (in a state when you are)
healthy and close-fisted, one haunted by the fear of poverty,
hoping to become rich (charity in such a state of health and
mind is the best). And you must not defer (charity to such a
length) that you are about to die and would he saying: This is
for so and so, and this is for so and so. Lo, it has already
come into (the possession of so and so)”. [Agreed Upon]
Chapter: Striving in the Path of Allah
10). On authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص
said:
اره حجبات النار بلشهاواات، واحجبات الانة بلماكا"The (Hell) Fire is surrounded by all kinds of desires and
passions, while Paradise is surrounded by all kinds of disliked
undesirable things". [Agreed Upon]
Chapter:
Clarifying the Many Pathways of Goodness
11). On authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص
said:
قاة كل ي اوم تاطلع فيه الشمس، ي اعدل كل سالاماى منا الناس عالايه صاداا، أاو ي ارفاع ها قاة، وايعي الرجلا عالاى داابته، ف اياحمل عالاي ب ايا االث ن اي صاداا إلا ة ياطوها قاة، واكل خاطوا ة الطي باة صادا لما قاة ، واالكا ا ماتااعاه صادا ها عالاي
قاة ييط األاذاى عان الطريق صادا قاة، وا الصالاة صادا"There is a (compulsory) Sadaqa (charity) to be given for every
joint of the human body (as a sign of gratitude to Allah)
everyday the sun rises. To judge justly between two persons is
regarded as Sadaqa, and to help a man concerning his riding
animal by helping him to ride it or by lifting his luggage on to it,
is also regarded as Sadaqa, and (saying) a good word is also
Sadaqa, and every step taken on one's way to offer the
compulsory prayer (in the mosque) is also Sadaqa and to remove
a harmful thing from the way is also Sadaqa". [Agreed Upon]
12). On authority of Abu Huraira that the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:
ا أاو رااحا ا غادا لاه ن زلاه منا الانة كلما ا إلا الماسجد وارااحا أاعاد الل مان غادا
" Allah will prepare for him who goes to the mosque (every)
morning and in the afternoon (for the congregational prayer) an
honorable place in Paradise with good hospitality for (what he
has done) every morning and afternoon goings". [Agreed Upon]
13). On authority of Abu Huraira that the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:
اة اراة لااراتاا، والاو فرسنا شا يا نسااءا المسلماات الا تاقران جا
" O Muslim women! None of you should look down upon the gift
sent by her female neighbor even if it were the trotters of the
sheep (fleshless part of legs)". [Agreed Upon]
14). On authority of Abu Huraira that the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:
ا ق اول الا إلاها إال الل عونا أاو بضع واستونا شعباة فاأافضالها ب اإلياان بضع واساا إمااطاة األاذاى عان الطريق واالايااء شعباة منا اإلياان ها واأادنا
" Faith has over seventy branches or over sixty branches, the
most excellent of which is the declaration that there is no god
but Allah, and the humblest of which is the, removal of what is
injurious from the path: and modesty is the branch of faith".

Chapter: Moderation in Acts of Obedience
15). On authority of ‘Aisha that the Messenger of Allah ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:
رقد حات ياذهابا عانه الن وم، فاإن إذاا ن اعاسا أاحادكم واهوا يصال ي ف الي اه غفر ف اياسب ن افسا عس الا يادري لاعاله ياست ا أاحاداكم إذاا صالى واهوا نا
"If anyone of you feels drowsy while praying he should go to bed
(sleep) till his slumber is over because in praying while drowsy
one does not know whether one is asking for forgiveness or for a
bad thing for oneself". [Agreed Upon]
Chapter: Preserving Ones Righteous Actions
16). On authority of Abdullah bin ‘Amr bin al-‘Aaas that the
Messenger of Allah ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:
يا عاب دا الل الا تاكن بثل فالان كاانا ي اقوم الليلا ف ات اراكا قيااما الليل "'Abdullah, don't be like so and so who observed prayer during
the whole night and then abandoned it (altogether)".

Chapter: The Command of Preserving the Sunnah
17). On authority of An-Nu`man bin 'Basheer that the Messenger of
Allah ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:
ب ايا وجوهكم الفان الل لاتساون صفوفاكم أاو لايخا"Straighten your rows or Allah will alter your faces".
[Agreed Upon]
18). On authority of Umar came to the Black Stone kissed it then
said:
فاع، إن أاعلام أانكا حاجار الا تاضر واالا ت ان والاوالا أان راأايت النب ي قاب لكا ماا ق اب لتكا
""No doubt, I know that you are a stone and can neither benefit
anyone nor harm anyone. Had I not seen Allah's Messenger (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص)
kissing you I would not have kissed you". [Agreed Upon]
Chapter: Striving in the Path of Allah
19). On authority of ‘Aaisha that the Messenger of Allah ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:
ا ماا لايسا منه ف اهوا راد مان أاحداثا ف أامرنا هاذا"He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no
valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected".
[Agreed Upon]
And in narration of Muslim:
مان عاملا عاماال لايسا عالايه أام رنا ف اهوا راد " He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our
behalf, that is to be rejected".
Chapter: The One Who Performs a Good or Evil
Act that is Imitated
20). On authority of Abdullah bin Masud that the Messenger of
Allah ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:
الا ت قتال ن افس ظلما إال كاانا عالاى ابن آداما األاول كفل من دامهاا ألانه كاانا أاولا مان سان القاتلا
" No person who is killed unjustly, but the share of (this offence
of his also) falls upon the first son of Adam, for he was the
first to introduce killing". [Agreed Upon]
Chapter:
Co-operating Upon Righteousness and Piety
20). On authority of Zaid bin Khaalid that the Messenger of Allah ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص
said:
بيل الل باري بيل الل ف اقاد غازاا، وامان خالافا غاازي ف سا مان جاهزا غاازي ف سا ف اقاد غازاا
" He who prepares a Ghazi going in Allah's Cause is given a
reward equal to that of) a Ghazi; and he who looks after
properly the dependents of a Ghazi going in Allah's Cause is
(given a reward equal to that of) Ghazi". [Agreed Upon]
