Gebrauchsfreundlich, sicher, leicht und kostengünstig – dieseVersprechen lösen Kunststoffprodukte jeden Tag tausendfachaufs Neue ein. Nachhaltigkeit und Recyclingfähigkeit erwartetdie Gesellschaft gleichermaßen, und in dieser Dimensionhaben Kunststoffe zweifellos Nachholbedarf. Ähnliches gilt fürIndustrie 4.0 und die Verfügbarkeit von Daten. Sie werden mil-lionenfach genutzt, es soll Wissen erzeugt und Effizienzgeschaffen werden. Der Nachweis, dass dies im industriellenAlltag gelingt und kunststoffverarbeitende Unternehmen Mehr-wert aus dem Einsatz künstlicher Intelligenz generieren, stehtaber noch aus.
Zu diesen beiden Themenkomplexen und weiteren mehr formu-liert das 30. Internationale Kolloquium Kunststofftechnik im70. Jahr des Bestehens des IKV und 150 Jahre nach Grün-dung der RWTH Aachen Antworten. Referenten aus führendenUnternehmen und Wissenschaftler des IKV referieren überneue Forschungen und Erkenntnisse und fordern dazu auf, Ent-wicklungen und Positionen zu reflektieren und die Diskussionzu vertiefen, im Anschluss an die Vortragssessions, an denStänden der begleitenden Industrieausstellung und auf derBesichtigungstour.

User-friendly, safe, lightweight and cost-efficient – plastics prod-ucts are well known for those attributes. If it comes to sustainabil-ity and recyclability, however, there is certainly a gap betweentoday’s reality and the expectations from the society. The situationis quite similar for Industry 4.0 and digitisation. A vast amountof data is collected in today’s production systems promising again in knowledge and to leverage efficiency. Anyway, there isstill little evidence that the intense use of massive data and theapplication of artificial intelligence creates added value to indus-trial production and plastics processing.
The 30th International Colloquium Plastics Technology will provideanswers to those and many more hot topics. Leading expertsfrom leading companies and scientists from IKV will present thelatest findings and research results. Within the sessions, in theaccompanying industry exhibition and during the tour throughthe IKV we provide a forum for reflection and discussion aboutthe future of plastics technology.
