and – 14, -30, -45 for EF.• Pass-word protection for setting.General:The ADR145A is member of Ashida Numerical Relayfamily (Aditya Series) design to meet demand of lowand medium switchgear control. The ADR145A is aDirectional 3 OC and 1 EF relay with Instantaneoushigh set and programmable output to simplify feederprotection wiring. The ADR145A continuouslymonitors all 3 phase and earth current, through CTconnections. The high-speed micro-controllersamples this current through a 12-bit A/D converter.

The micro-controller performs powerful Digital Algorithms to find out Amplitude of current signal,direction of power flow then this value is use for protection and metering function. All measurement istuned to fundamental frequency. Each input current is also displayed on 16 x 2 LCD display formetering. The Relay is having main three functions 1) Protection 2) Self-Supervision 3) Measurement.

1. Protection Functions:The ADR145A give maximum benefit/cost ratio. The ADR145A give all the advantage of numericalrelay at affordable cost. Following is summery of different protection functions provided by relay.

1.1. Over current / EF protection:The ADR145A has 4 sensing element 3 OC and 1 EF. The tripping current can be set from 50% to200% for phase and 5% to 80% for Earth fault in steps of 1% by Keys switch provided on frontpanel. The unit has got selection of IDMT characteristic of international IEC standard Very inverse /Extremely Inverse / Long Inverse and Standard inverse (both 3.0 sec and 1.3sec at 10 times). Theunit also has Time Multiplier Setting (TMS) from x0.01 to x1.0 for IDMT delay multiplication. Theinstantaneous tripping function is having range of 100% - 3000% for phase and 100% - 1200% forEF and can be set in steps of 100%. The high speed CPU continuously monitor the all four currentinputs and compare with IDMT as well as instantaneous setting. If any one current is aboveinstantaneous setting the relay provide immediate trip command bypassing IDMT delay. If is inputcurrent is less than instantaneous setting but more than IDMT setting, CPU calculate IDMT delay asper selected IDMT characteristic multiply it with TMS setting and provide trip command if fault ispersist even after this time delay. All the 4 elements are voltage polarised. That means theIDMT elements can be made directional or non-directional via. Key board setting.All the settings are password protected to prevent unauthorised change.

1.2. Extra Alarm Contact:Any Protection panel required extra contacts for provide visual ALARM and ANNUNCIATIONindication for operator. Also some status contacts for SCADA or remote indications. Usuallyseparate electromechanical relay used for contact multiplication of protection relay contacts. Thisadded extra wiring and extra hardware. The ADR141A provide separate programmable ALARMcontact for such application. Maximum 4 nos. of extra contacts can be provided. These contacts canbe programmed as follows

2. Supervision Function:2.1. Self-supervision:

The continuously keeping track on its internal hardware and the movement it detect any failure ofany component, it give message on LCD display, This feature is very useful to give pre informationto avoid any mall - operation. In such situation it use some default setting and remain in protectionmode.

3. Measurement Function:In normal condition this display shows all settings. Via keyboard the display can be program to showthe actual current flowing through the relay. If current excesses set value the relay gives tripcommand. The type of fault is displayed on LCD display. During the fault condition the relaymeasure the fault current and store in non-volatile memory. The fault current can be read viakeyboard on LCD display Last 3 fault values along with tripping counter can be view via key-board. All settings are save in Electrically erasable read only memory and remain.
