Pandit Dinanath Mangeshkar Awards were started in memory

of Late Dinanath Mangeshkar who is father of Lata

Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, and Usha Mangeshka.

These awards started in 24th April 1999 and since then it given

celebrated every year.

The awards are given to persons for their outstanding

contributions to music and movies.

To improve the weather forecasting system in eastern cost, a

new doppler radar has been commissioned.

It will be built in Gopalpur, Odisha. Gopalpur is a cycloneprone

area. There was sever cyclonic activity in October 2013 namely

Phailin.

This radar was commissioned by the Indian Metrological

Department. It is sixth radar on the easter coast.

This radar is called doppler radar because it uses doppler

effect to forecast upcoming stroms, cyclons, hailstrom.

International Finance Corporation (IFC) — a member of the

World Bank group—launched its first Uridashi Masala bonds,

mobilising Rupees 30 crore (or $4.3 million) directly from

Japanese household investors to promote private sector

development in India.

Masala bonds are rupee-denominated instruments sold only to

offshore investors, while Uridashi bonds are sold to Japanese

household investors.

The 7th joint military training exercise between the Indian Army

and the African country Seychelles People’s Defence Forces

(SPDF) was concluded.

The exercise was named Lamitye means Friendship in Creole.

It was a 14 day long exercise which was conducted from 15 to

28 February 2016 at Victoria, Mahe Island, Seychelles.

Its aim was to improve interoperability between both Armies in

jointly fighting Counter Insurgency / Counter Terrorism.

Vice Admiral Atul Kumar Jain, AVSM, VSM took over as the

Chief of Staff, of the Visakhapatnam headquartered Eastern

Naval Command (ENC) from Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, who

took over as the Commander-in-Chief, Andaman & Nicobar

Command at Port Blair.

Rahul Sachdev has won the first All India Open Invitational

Snooker Championship 2016 held at Aurangabad in

Maharashtra. In the final match, he defeated current national

champion Pushpender Singh.

All India Open Invitational Snooker Championship 2016 was

organized by Billiards and Snooker Association of Aurangabad.
