India is unquestionably moving on the path of progress, but at the same time, we are experiencing certain constraints, which, if not given

serious thought immediately, have the potential to slow down the pace of progress. Poverty, unemployment, terrorism, health issues, casteism and corruption are proving to be a drag on the progress of the country. The only way to combat these evils is the mobilization andparticipation of the youth in the Social, Economic and Political Governance of India. At a moment when the political and social life isbecoming more and more casteist and parochial, the country awaits the youth who rise above all the narrowness and endeavour to tacklethese evils to consolidate national unity and progress.

stIn view of the above, MAEER's MIT School of Government took the proactive step by organizing the '1 Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad ' (IndianStudent Parliament ) in 2011. To sensitize and harness the power of youth, the Indian Student Parliament plans to bring together GeneralSecretaries, Joint Secretaries and socially & politically active students of all affiliated colleges of all universities in the country.

    INTRODUCTION

To transform today's youth into ambassadors of change to take on the challenges and occupy worthy offices in the democratic institutions ofIndia. Every youth will be conscious about the issues of regional, national & global concerns and will be equipped to deal with it. Each one willhave an important role to make our nation a vibrant democracy.

    VISION

    MISSION

Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad is dedicated to the task of bringing student leaders on a common platform, sensitizing them towards the noblecause of nation building. It also aims to act as a catalyst, assisting the national and international bodies involved in preparing policies relatedto the development of the youth.

stThe overwhelming and spontaneous response to the 1 Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad (Indian Student Parliament) has been very motivating. The

event was like a beginning of a silent revolution among the student leaders. This torch has to be carried further. We aspire to see the BharatiyaChhatra Sansad into a youth movement, which will be deeply concerned with issues that are afflicting our nation. It will act not only for creatingawareness on these issues, but appeal to them to take an active part in solving these issues.

nd stThe 2 Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad would strive to further the achievements of the 1 Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad. It seeks to explore other

ndsignificant issues that seek the attention of the nation and youth in particular. The 2 Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad will be convened on 10th, 11thand 12th January 2012 at the MIT campus, Pune. The Student Parliament is also a vindication of the prevailing desire across the globe forseeking a change that takes note of their concerns and potentialities. Moreover, with the process of globalization being on the rise, there is anincreasing demand to provide ample space to leaders who are young, vibrant and yet dynamic enough to rise above the present system andstrive for a change.

We extend our hearty welcome to all the enthusiastic participants and dignitaries.
