Setting up a eportfolio site:

• Consider privacy and confidentiality- some free sites means it has to be viewable by all

• Mahara, Weebly, Blogging, Wiki, Hotmail (can be controlled)

• Look for :Ease of use- drag and drop,

copy & pasteTemplates set up already

The benefits of using an e-portfolio over a paper portfolio are:

• Templates can be set out for ease of use • Reflection can be hyperlinked to competencies. • Can store presentations, be creative i.e. videos.• Multiple portfolios can be created depending on the nature of

the portfolio and its audience.• Eliminate the need to carry around large folders.• Important documents can be uploaded and saved in the event

of a fire or flood.• Can be sent to anyone in the world, or viewed in open

content.

Potential Problems

• Need to be ‘techno savvy’• Users often spend more time on eportfolio

than paper• More time and focus is spent on layout rather

than content• Need to back up files
