Our Year 1 News Letter

English

This week we wrote writing prompts about a boy at the the beach. We retold the story using sequence of

events, wrote the vocabulary words and then put them into sentences.

We discussed things that we can and can’t do and completed a page in the yellow work book. and then

read the “I can do it “ story (unit 2) describing different characteristics for two characters.

We started our first comprehension lesson ‘The bike’ in the comprehension pack and learned about all the

necessary equipment to wear when riding a bike.

We kicked off spelling with floss words: ff and ss in the spelling pack.

We continued our previous grammar lesson : Capit5al letters and full stops.

We started our reading story :Run,run,run.We did many activities on the story and met our characters

Gingerbread man and Dan.

Important note

Year 1 first assessment week will start from Monday

7th October till Sunday 14th October.

Kindly note that Sunday 6th October is a national

holiday for all students.

Math This week we covered :

Numbers after, before and between a given number

1 or 2 more or less than a given number

Ordering numbers ( from smallest to the greatest and vice versa )

1- All topics were covered through activities, songs and

visual presentation, Students were given independent

practice through class works and home works to be

done on their own.

Science

Students were able to:

1- Identify the meaning of the five senses

2- Relate each sense to its body part

This was achieved through:-

Lab visit, in class activities, videos and on going question

Program: Microsoft office word 2010

Topics covered:

Design a list about keyboard keys.

Remind students with the importance

of different keys while typing.

Understand how to change font color.

Understand how to add bullets.

Type text.

Art

-Doing a colored paper fish craft, with the basic

shapes (square, circle, oval & triangle)

-Used the glue, eyes, colors, mixing main colors

to get secondary ones.
