Dear ladies and gentlemen,

Hamburg has a long and rich tradition as an influential commercial centre. The Elbe, the port and the Hanseatic League have made Hamburg into the gateway to the world as well as a major economic hub that is shaped by international influences.

Today, the Hanseatic City of Hamburg is not only a traditional retail and wholesale centre, but also plays a central role in current German foreign trade. The numbers speak for themselves: with around 32,000 trading companies and more than 125,000 employees in this sector, Hamburg and Berlin are Germany’s largest trading centres. Based on its expertise in the mail order sector, Hamburg has also become one of Germany’s key locations for e-commerce.

Given these facts, it is hardly surprising that we are able to welcome European Procurement Excellence 2015 to Hamburg, thereby adding Hamburg to the prestigious list of previous host cities. By playing host to this high-profile event – and thus to key stakeholders, decision-makers and buyers – we are highlighting the role which Hamburg plays in German, European and global trade. The outstanding network of stakeholders within Hamburg’s meetings and events industry and a highly committed Convention Bureau further contribute to Hamburg’s attractiveness as a host for major events of this kind.

We would like to warmly welcome you to our city and hope you will have an inspiring stay in Hamburg – in every regard.

Olaf Scholz First Mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg

GREETING

Transforming Procurement into a PowerhouseSpurring Competitiveness and Resilience

The new challenges for our businesses in 2015 and beyond are threefold:

w Coping with the vagaries of the currency exchange rates

w Leveraging sharply lower oil and commodity prices

w Embracing the digital revolution

Transforming businesses and supply chains must be placed on top of the C-suite agenda in order to face these challenges. The CPO plays a key role in spurring competitiveness and resilience. He should focus on:

w Transforming the procurement organization for the (digital) future

w Applying ambitious KPIs and analytics for global category management

w Unleashing value through innovative partnerships with the supply base

At EPE 2015 forerunners among Europe’s leading CPOs will share first-hand insights into their entrepreneurial revamping of procurement. They will show that the returns on their transformation journeys have been tremendous.

Thus, why staying on the sidelines? Take the initiative not only for benchmarking but for benchbreaking. Join us this July in Kempinski Atlantic Hotel at EPE 2015.

Oliver LawrenzGroup Vice President SCM Systems, ABB AG

”In ABB´s matrix organization is it key that the supply chain works seamlessly and relentlessly. We emphasize collaboration and insights beyond spend performance data analytics to identify new opportunities for improvement. First tests with big data revealed counter-intuitive insights. The EPE summit offers a great opportunity to benchmark and share as well as get additional stimulus.”

Josip T. TomasevicVice President & CPO, Global Purchasing and Materials Management, AGCO Corporation

”Within AGCO we are fully aware of the impact that purchasing and supply chain management have on our group‘s top line and bottom line. We decided to implement an ambitious transformation journey which is leading to sustainable value enhancements and which is driving our global purchasing strategy into a new dimension. Of particular importance is the adoption of a process-based supply chain risk management approach. At EPE 2015, I look forward to sharing our insights and to discussing our solutions with the delegates and speakers. The EPE summit is a great opportunitiy to share lessons learned about finding and creating exciting opportunities on the supply side.”
