2nd Grade Lesson plan • Target: I can
identify the Wolf’s theme as the brass family.
I will need… • Brass family instrument
clip. • Mozart recording • Listening Log (continued
from last week) • Matching cards • Melodic and rhythmic Yum
Yum’s games. • Chromelab
The Wolf • The Wolf’s theme is played
by the French Horn. • The French Horn is a part
of the brass family, that means it is made out of metal, and uses air to be played.
• Watch the clip about brass family instruments to see the other instruments of the brass family.
Lets Listen… • Now that we learned about the brass
family, let’s listen to the Mozart Concerto while completing the Wolf pages of our listening log.
Lets Play a Game… • Using the matching cards, flip the
cards upside down for a matching game. Flip two cards over at a time. If they don’t match flip them back over. There is two ways to get a match, either the same card, or by matching the character to their instrument family!
Lets Practice Our Rhythmic and Melodic Patterns…
• Use both of the Yum Yums links to practice our rhythmic and melodic patterns.
• If you have extra time, you can explore some music experiments on Chromelab.
Lets Reflect… Target: I can identify the Wolf’s theme as the brass family. I demonstrated the Wolf’s theme as brass family instruments by… • Watching a clip about brass family instruments. • Reading about the French Horn. • Completing the Wolf pages of my listening log
while listening to a French Horn Concerto.
