INTRODUCTION
Welcome to our Second Annual Online Auction We are still as pumped as ever about our cattle and look forward to building on the successes we have experienced in the last year. Bull sales were fun again this spring as we had the strongest sales in 10 years and good Hereford cattle are in demand. It’s good to still be in the cattle business and the lean times have made us stronger and more de-termined than ever to supply the right kind of Hereford cattle! The cattle we offered in our First Online Sale last year not only performed well for their new owners but some went on to the winners circle at the 2011 Farmfair International . The Lot #1 feature bull calf from last year’s sale, Tlell 199S Xplosive 18S, won his class and was crowned Bull Calf Champion for Clay Enterprises of Wapella, Sas-katchewan but that was only after he stood at the side of his dam when she was named Grand Champion Female of the Western Na-tional Hereford Show. Both the feature Lot#2 heifer calf and the feature Lot#8 bred heifer from the 2010 sale went on to win their respective classes at Edmonton. However maybe the biggest thrill of all was having our bull named People’s Choice Bull at the 2010 Herefords Genes Event. Tlell 42S Super Dude 20W had been offered choice in our last sale and Copper-T Ranch from Fraser Lake, BC picked his Maxium stall mate with the option to take both bulls if Super Dude wasn’t chosen at the Genes Event lottery. Thanks Trevor and Janice for taking both bulls ! This spring we had a great response to the bulls we had on offer at both Vanderhoof and Williams Lake. We showed both the Bull Calf Champion and Reserve at the Williams Lake Bull Show and we sold eleven yearling bulls for an average of $3127.00. Thank you to all who continue to support of our program. Your allegiance has allowed us to once again dig deep into our program and offer you the best we can produce. You will find genetics here which have been developed with performance in mind while remembering that it
is the not so little things like udders, feet, legs, hair and docility that make our cattle work well for our customers. Whether you are looking for a show heifer or a mother for your next herd sire, we are confident that we can fill your needs. You get to chose from the top of our bred heifer pen as well as several select heifer and bull calves. The genet-ics are a fresh combination of the latest breed leading AI sires used on a cow herd developed over 30 years. New this year we have also DNA tested all our sale offering to ensure that no cattle sold are carriers of the three genetic defects; Idiopathic Epilepsy, Diluter or Hypotrichosis, This is your first opportunity to purchase RVP STAR 533P Can-Am ET 57U genetics in Western Canada. We purchased a
breeding interest in this bull who then went on to be named National Junior Bull Calf Champion at Denver and Fort Worth in 2008 and National
Yearling Champion Bull at Denver in 2009. His calves born at Tlell this spring are awesome and we have used him heavily again this breeding season. His calves are certainly a sale feature. For those looking for a herd sire with proven predictable saleable genetics, look to farther than Lot# 2. His name says it all…….Tlell cattle Can-Do !

AUCTION GUIDELINES Welcome to the Richardson Ranch 2nd Annual Online Auction. This year we have gone with LiveAuctions.TV to make the process smoother and more secure. Please read the following instructions and if you have any trouble or questions, be sure to give us a call at 250-557-4348 or email us at [email protected] RICHARDSON RANCH 2nd ANNUAL ONLINE AUCTION DATES AND TIMES The auction has been set to open for bids at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Savings Time on Monday, September 12th, 2011 with the internet gavel coming down on the first lot at 6:00 p.m. PDST Monday, September 19th, 2011. We will then proceed to sell one lot every 5 minutes until all lots are sold. A sale order will be posted 9:00 AM Monday September 19. If you don’t have computer access, phone in bids will be accepted at the numbers listed on the terms and conditions page. HOW TO PARTICIPATE In order to participate in the online auction you will need to pre-register and obtain a buyer number. To do this go to the LiveAuctions website, www.liveauctions.tv, and select Richardson Ranch 2nd Annual Online Auction.
After logging in the buyer registration form should pop up automatically. If it doesn’t there is a link you can select that says, “register for a buyer number”. This form requires you to fill out your banks name, city, province, phone number and a contact. You may register to bid after bidding has opened but please remember that authorization to bid is not instantaneous so please plan ahead HOW THE AUCTION WORKS Once you have a username and have received a buyer number then you are ready to bid. You will see a screen that is unique to your user ID. There will be a list containing the sale lots. If you click on a lot the video clip or photo will be displayed to the right. The next bid, current price, proxy bid, and manual bid buttons will be displayed below the video area. This page will react to your bids by stating, “you are in” or “you are out”. No one else will be able to see your bid – that data is not accessible to the public. Each time you login, the auc-tion screen will display your personal bidding information. Your auction screen is unique and private displaying your activity to only you. Remember that you must have the lot that you are bidding on selected. This is where it tells you if you are in or out. It is here where you can also see your proxy (automatic) bid settings as applicable. WHAT IS A PROXY BID? With a proxy bid you can enter your maximum bid and then sit back and watch. When you enter a proxy bid amount the LiveAuctions system automatically bids on your behalf up to your maximum bid. If the lot closes out for less than your maximum, that’s all you’ll have to pay. This means that you don’t have to keep coming back to re-bid every time another bid is placed. This makes it more convenient and less time consuming. It can also greatly assists those breeders that can’t be near a computer or are busy with other duties at the time of the final bidding. Your maximum amount is kept confidential from other bidders and the seller. Even though you can see this amount on your screen no one else can. The LiveAuctions system compares your bid to those of the other regis-tered bidders and the system automatically places bids on your behalf, using only as much of your bid as is neces-sary to maintain your high bid position. The system will bid only up to your maximum amount as necessary to main-tain you as the high bidder. If another bidder has a higher maximum, you’ll be outbid and the system will tell you that “YOU’RE OUT”. But, if no other bidder has a higher maximum you win the final bid.

Delivery: Purchase price includes delivery of all livestock as far as Vanderhoof. We will
give a cash discount of $100 a head for cattle picked up at our Ranch in Tlell.
We will deliver free of charge, all livestock purchased, to the Vanderhoof Auction Market. There are several commercial options available to ship cattle from this BC Livestock Co-op auction market to all parts of Canada. We will make every effort to assist you in arranging delivery from Vanderhoof to your Ranch.
It is our expectation that we will be delivering the sale cattle during the last week of September. Last year the added cost to send a bred heifer from Vanderhoof to Abbotsford was five cents a pound or approximately $70.00. Depending on the situation we may also be able to trailer your purchases to certain areas beyond Vanderhoof with our stock trailer as we plan to go through to Alberta to visit family in Bonnyville, Alberta on this trip.

Craig says…. For those of my vintage that are completing a “Bucket List”, I would strongly encourage you
to include a trip to Haida Gwaii (the Queen Charlotte Islands). The trip is guaranteed to be a two-fold bonanza!
The islands are Canada’s most westerly land mass, and the pristine beauty of this phenomenon is breathtaking. If
you have never experienced the thrill of hooking and attempting to land a 30 plus pound Pacific salmon, it is an
experience to last a lifetime. Fly from Vancouver to Sandspit, located on Moresby Island, take the ferry to Skidegate and continue your trip
north about half way up Graham Island. Your destination will be the Richardson Ranch near Tlell. If you call
ahead, you can book Grampa’s Guest House located on the farm and overlooking the Tlell River. You will see
some of the finest Polled Hereford cattle in Canada grazing the river banks and experience some of the finest hos-
pitality you can imagine. This will be the second year for the Richardson Ranch Internet Auction Sale. The offering that Don and Leslie
have put together is certainly worthy of the most discriminating. This year there are two bull calves on offer: a
son of Can-Am out of a two year old daughter of Carla that was moderate at birth with tremendous performance,
and an embryo son of Kema 8S and Reload that has the potential to be big time! He has the muscle shape and
performance with the color and eye appeal to interest anyone. The heifer calves are the kind that can get your motor running. 9Y, a Can-Am daughter out of 18S is just one to
consider. I can attest to the production of 18S. Flewelling Cattle Co. Ltd. purchased her daughter in the sale last
year, and she has exceeded all of our expectations to date. What a nice set of forage raised bred heifers. I was fortunate enough to see most of their mothers and sisters that
are in the herd. They are heifers that fit everyone’s profile; carrying service to some exciting young sires. Last year the shipping worked well with Don and Leslie bringing the cattle to Alberta in late September, and
the plan is to do the same this year. I have seen all of the animals in the sale and would be more than
pleased to give you my assessment of them. They are Polled Hereford cattle of the highest quality,
and they would represent you and your herd well. Remember, plan now for the World Hereford Conference,
it’s less than a year until July 2012.

WOW! This is the result of years of planning. His dam was purchased online as an embryo from the GHC Car-
la 35J cow who has been a corner stone in the Star Lake Cattle Co. transplant program. This strong cow family
has worked well for both the Crittenden and Star Lake
ranches and 35J is the dam of Denver National Cham-
pion bull Star 12G Palliadin 115N.
The sire is the Twice Denver Champion RVP
STAR 533P Can-Am ET 57U bull we purchased an
interest in from River Valley Herefords in their 2008
production sale.
This calf has it all...pedigree, performance and
phenotype. He is a long spined calf who has shown tre-
mendous quarter since birth. Well balanced, fully pig-
mented, good haired and from a hard working proven
cow family. This could be the next big one!

strictions. However, should you use the female in question in a donor program and

one flush of this cow to the bull of our choice, at our costs, at a time which is mu-
tually agreeable to both parties.

Payment: We will contact all winning bids and arrange payments as soon after the closing date as possible. We accept Visa, MasterCard, bank transfers or certified cheque. Payment is expected in Canadian dollars before cattle are shipped off the island. Each animal pur-chased becomes the property of the buyer 24 hours after we have notified you of your win-ning bid and we advise you to acquire insurance on your purchases. Delivery of cattle: We will be selling all the cattle FOB Vanderhoof and we will be giving a cash discount of $100 a head for cattle picked up at our Ranch in Tlell. FOB Vanderhoof means we will trailer, at our cost, all the cattle sold, to Vanderhoof where there are several commercial options available for you to move your new purchase to all parts of Canada. Depending on the situation we may also be able to offer delivery at cost to areas beyond Vanderhoof with our own stock trailer. It is our expectation that we will be delivering sale cattle during the last week of September. We will have all animals brand inspected and provide shipping manifests issued at our expense prior to delivery of your purchases to trucking companies in Vanderhoof and we will make every effort to assist you in arranging delivery from Vanderhoof to your Ranch. Delivery of embryos: All embryos are currently stored at Davis-Rairdan Embryo Transplant Ltd., Crossfield, Alberta. Donor dams have not been DNA tested for these defects as their DNA parentage verification occurred before these genetic tests were available. Herd health: All cattle have been vaccinated with both a seven way and a four way vac-cine, and all will be treated with Ivermectin pour-on within the last 30 days before the sale.
