These four images that were taken in my digital imaging class are some of my best work.

The two portraits had minimal edits in Adobe Photoshop, my friend Grady skateboarding had many edits done.

For example, in Grady’s picture I gray scaled the background and masked Grady and his skateboard back in full color for a cool effect.

Best Ever

All of these images were taken in Bannack, Montana.

The truck and landscape photos were bracketed, meaning two pictures were taken at different exposures and blended together to get a colorful picture that isn’t overexposed image.

The yellow wheelbarrow is one of my favorite pictures because of the bright yellow and green colors in the photo.

Fine Art

This type of photography is one my favorites. Getting in close to capture the details that our eyes usually don’t pick up can create a neat experience.

My favorite photo would have to be the water drop on the stem of a flower. This is my favorite because you can see the flower inside of the water drop.

Macro

I love the TV show Avatar: The Last Airbender, which is what inspired me to throw a bucket of water in front of my friend Cara in order to give the appearance of water bending.

In the blurred water motion on the rocks I adjusted the saturation and vibrance to make the colors more noticeable.

Freezeand Blur

My 10-photo theme for our photo excursion to Bannack Montana was textures. I took multiple images that could be used to blend into future images.

For part of my theme I added tasteful typography to explain more about textures and blending layers.

Typography

As you can see, these are multiple pictures taken of my roommate, James Evans, sleeping. He happened to fall asleep on the couch at the exact time I needed to take 12 pictures of something or someone at different angles. Coincidence? I think not.

I had a hard time finding a texture to blend in the background but I used the wood texture on the bottom to blend in the back.

Perspectiveof Twelve

During my photographer’s field trip to Bannack, Montana, I had the opportunity to learn how to do cool camera tricks. Some of these tricks include: levitation, ghosting, and light painting.

All three of these types of tricks require a tripod because any movement will mess up the entire image.

From force choking, to creepy ghost girls, these photo effects were a fun chance for me to use my creativity.

Creativity

These portraits were taken of my friends Sarah and Jesse.

Sarah’s picture was taken outside of the Spori building on the BYU–I campus. Jesse’s picture was taken at Porter Park in Rexburg, Idaho.

Portraiture

Portraiture is my Kryptonite, however I didn’t allow this to stop me from having fun in Bannack, Montana.

All of the other students on the field trip had the same models to work with so in order to have somewhat different pictures I had to employ my creativity. That means weird poses.

I told models to kiss a fox, do the robot, and put a viola bow to her head. Most of the models said that none of the other students had asked them to pose in these strange manners before.

Alex King

Although photography has never been my strong point, I have developed efficiency in using a DSLR camera by taking a digital imaging class offered at Brigham Young University–Idaho. Through these experiences I have grown to love capturing the beauty of the world inside a camera.
