At 2degrees Enterprise we help major corporations cut costs, reduce risk and achieve smarter growth by being more sustainable. We do this by helping them transform out-dated business practices, using fully-linked collaboration to make it simple and efficient for them to work closely and at scale with suppliers, internal operations and customers. This is made possible through an innovative combination of our leading stakeholder engagement platform, our experienced engagement managers and unique processes.

With over 800 members from 300 businesses supplying Asda, the Asda Sustain & Save Exchange (SSE) is targeting an estimated $1bn savings from waste, water and energy in the food supply chain. Through collaboration, the SSE is a key driver of Asda’s aspiration to have the most sustainable and resilient supply chain in the UK. In particular, it uses the lens of sustainability to identify opportunities to create shared value with supplier partners, through a focus on resource efficiency.

The Tesco Knowledge Hub is the world’s largest supply chain sustainability collaboration, providing an online knowledge-sharing platform for over 1,800 professionals. Members include representatives from 700 of its largest suppliers, Tesco colleagues and external experts. The Knowledge Hub is a key pillar in Tesco’s work to reduce the carbon footprint of the products it sells by 30% by 2020 – enabling suppliers to work with Tesco and each other to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout its supply chain, while at the same time unlocking efficiency savings and building relationships.

The Kingfisher Exchange supports 5 Kingfisher operating companies in 8 countries globally to work together to accelerate progress towards a $100m cost efficiency objective associated with the energy, waste and environmental impacts across its commercial property portfolio.

The recently launched RBS Innovation Gateway project will accelerate the testing, trial and development of breakthrough solutions for the built environment by providing services, support and a test environment to SMEs, inventors and innovators. The goal is that by 2020, the Innovation Gateway will have accelerated the development and commercialisation of breakthrough solutions for the future, and applied them to the RBS Estate.

We are currently running client programs for a number of leading companies including:

Unlocking Savings

“The Exchange is creating value and not extracting value from the supply chain. The measure of success is that people are already saving money... At Asda, we want to build a world class supply base for the future, so we’ll be working with the most proactive suppliers on this agenda to explore how we will continue to support each other for the future.”

Barry Williams, Chief Merchandising Officer Food, Asda

Millions of dollars of savings have already been achieved through our client programmes, and they are now unlocking billions more. A recent report from University of Oxford’s Säid Business School calculated that based on our work there was $28bn in resource efficiency savings to be made in the European food supply chain. A further report in partnership with Cambridge University Institute for Manufacturing estimated that UK manufacturing could improve its profits by 12% by doing the kinds of things that members in our client communities are achieving.

The 2degrees bespoke online platform and fully-linked collaboration process enables us to:• Accelerate problem-solving and innovation, e.g. turning one company’s

waste into another’s resource

• Aggregate demand for solutions to reduce cost of implementation, e.g. procurement of low energy, LED lighting solutions for suppliers in the Tesco Buying Club

• Drive forward cross company collaboration projects, e.g. crop utilization, smart logistics and waste to energy

• Help international business units work together to deliver energy efficiency improvements across local businesses, e.g. refrigeration, lighting and boilers

• Access pioneering innovators and accelerate the uptake of new resource efficiency technology, e.g. the implementation of new technologies to reduce operating costs and increase the value of a property estate

“We’ve pledged to reduce the carbon footprint of the products we sell by 30% by 2020. To do this we need to work with all of our suppliers and the Tesco Knowledge Hub provides an excellent way for us all to learn more, and to share best practice.”

John Scouler, Commercial Director, Tesco

“We’re fully committed to 30% reduction of our carbon emissions by 2020. And Tesco’s Buying Club (on 2degrees) is really supporting our sustainability plan, Greenprint for Good, ensuring a better environment now and for the future.”

At 2degrees, we believe that business is key to solving the greatest challenge of our time: how 9 billion people can live well and sustainably on a single planet with finite resources.

This is also business’ biggest challenge - how companies can survive and thrive in a time of turbulent change. They can only do this by adopting the principles of Sustainable Business, embracing economic efficiency as well as environmental and social concerns.

Most of the knowledge and capability needed to answer the challenge already exists somewhere, scattered across different businesses and value chains.

Over the past few years we have developed a unique and innovative approach using our online platform to connect up the people, knowledge and organisations that can solve this challenge.

By bringing these together and facilitating practical, peer-to-peer information sharing and problem solving to deliver real outcomes, we make sustainable business happen.

Join us on the Journey.
