Designed Future Character
• Post Office Street will be a tree-lined street with ground floor retail uses, providing a high quality pedestrian environment.
• The footpath on the eastern side will be widened for outdoor dining and to improve access to Robert Pymble Park.
• The street will be two way with on-street parking to the western edge and a central landscaped median.
• Stormwater management system to be incorporated into the new street/footpath design where possible.
• Special character street: Reinforce the historic and civic significance of the street and the link with Robert Pymble Park through formal street planting and the use of banners and flagpoles.
• Streetscape will consist of high quality paving, lighting and furniture.

OBJECTIVES
Convert part of Post Office Street (between Post Office Lane and Pacific Highway) into a shared vehicle/pedestrian zone, by narrowing the carriageway and upgrading with interesting pavements, planting and lighting.
Create an intimate scale with tree planting both sides and in the median.
Provide permeable parking spaces on street and a bioswale in the median. Widen footpaths to provide more flexibility of use, including outdoor dining.
Extend character and finishes of Post Office Street into Post Office Lane, to provide a continuous shared pedestrian environment.
Create public pedestrian access between Grandview Street and Park Crescent.
