COURSE OVERVIEW

Cardiologists are trained during their fellowship years in the latest techniques, technologies, standards of practice and guidelines for patient care. However, the practice of medicine changesrapidly and the discipline of interventional cardiology changes dramatically each year. Changesin interventional cardiology directly impact patient care and require constant updates tophysician knowledge and practices. Physicians rely on journal articles, interaction withcolleagues and lectures throughout the year to keep their knowledge up-to-date. The primarypurpose of the “29th Annual Cardiovascular Interventions” symposium is to provide thepracticing physician and cardiovascular care team with a concentrated exposure to newdevelopments in interventional cardiology that will positively influence patient outcomes.

The 2018 scientific program has been carefully designed by consulting recent key clinical trialdata, articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, physician focus groups, past evaluations, andneeds assessments. By attending this program, participants will learn the latest advances anddebates in interventional cardiology. They will return to their practice environment armed withthe latest evidence-based, practical information to improve patient care and outcomes.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

After attending this educational activity, participants should be able to:

Apply new technical approaches to specific lesion subsets such as bifurcation lesions, leftmain lesions, chronic total occlusions and saphenous vein graft disease

Integrate the latest guidelines and practice improvements into the management ofmyocardial function

Discuss new techniques under development for percutaneous cardiac valve repair andreplacement

Reduce common catheterization laboratory patient complications using new techniquesand technologies

Critique the latest evidence supporting new cardiac imaging modalities such as IVUS,OCT and FFR guided stent deployment

Prescribe the appropriate antithrombotic therapies based on the latest data and guidelines

TARGET AUDIENCE

This course is designed for interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, vascular surgeons, internists, nurses, cath lab technicians, perfusionists, registered cardiovascular invasive specialists, radiologic techologists, and those with a special interest in interventional cardiology. No experiencein interventional cardiology is required, however a basic understanding of the field is recommended.

ABIM MOC POINTS

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation inthe evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 23 MedicalKnowledge MOC points and Patient Safety MOC credit in the American

Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participantswill earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is theCME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME forthe purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Please keep in mind the following dates when claiming your MOC points:Physicians claiming MOC points for their participation in the symposium must complete theonline program evaluation by December 14, 2018 in order for the MOC points to count towardany MOC requirements that are due by the end of 2018.

Evaluations received after December 14, 2018 and before March 15, 2019 will continue to bereported to ABIM and any ABIM Board Certified physician who experienced a negative statuschange as a direct result of insufficient MOC points will have their status adjusted once therequired points have been earned.
