Why do we pray the Stations of the Cross during Lent?

Also referred to as the Way of the Cross, the Stations of the Cross represent fourteen particular events experienced by Jesus as he walked to Calvary.

The practice began in the early Church when pilgrims traveled to Jerusalem to retrace Jesus’ steps, stopping along the way at appropriate and predetermined places. Then and today, the practice helps us to contemplate the meaning of the Passion and death of the Lord and is especially meaningful during Lent.

Baptism Baptisms are held on the 4th Sunday of each month after the 11:00am Mass. Baptism is a communal Sacrament and not private. Deacon John Fanelle performs all of the baptisms. Parents are required to be formally registered as parishioners, and be participating members of our community for three months. Attending Mass does not make you registered– you must have filled out a registration form! If this is the first child, both parents are required to attend the Baptismal Class. Baptismal classes are held on the first Sunday of each month. Godparents are encouraged to attend the baptismal class, either at our parish or their own parish.
