28TH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME

Our God is a God of invitation, who is constantly inviting all people into relationship, to share in divine life and love. The gospel today portrays this God of invitation. More than once the king in the parable is constantly inviting people to come to the wedding banquet of his son. But no one wants to come. Who ends up at the wedding banquet? Everyone that the slaves can bring in off the streets, the good and the bad alike. The banquet is ready and God wants us to come. Sometimes we may think that faith is about us being good. But it is really about God being good. At times we may think that faith is about us making the choice to love God. But faith is really about God making the choice to love us. God invites us, and we are free to RSVP “yes” or “no”. To say this in another way, God does not love us because we are good; we are good because God loves us. The banquet is prepared. Come to the feast!

Nuestro Dios es un Dios de invitación, que invita constantemente a todas las personas a compartir la vida divina y el amor. El Evangelio de hoy retrata a este Dios de la invitación. I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, (bow) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. TOO BEAUTIFUL FOR EARTH We invite anyone who has been touched by miscarriage and infant loss to a shared burial service. Bring a small memory (note, card, picture, etc.) that will be placed in a

casket and buried after the service. This service will take place on Thursday, Oct. 15 which is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. The service will begin at 5:30 pm at the Center School Cemetery (West on Iowa Ave., Left on Parker Ave, Right on 248th St.).
