Type: grammar&vocabulary

Aims: revising past simple, would/used to, as/just as/when/while/as soon as/until, non-defining relative clauses.

Objectives: at the end of the class, students will be able to:

- identify and use the vocabulary taught;

- choose the correct past tense form;

- choose correctly between would and used to;

- join sentences using as/just as/when/while/as soon as/until;

- recognizing non-defining relative clauses in a context;

- create interest in the topic;

- stimulate their imagination;

- be confident in them when speaking a foreign language.

Class Development

I. Warm-up: The teacher checks the presence and the homework.

II. Revision:

1. The teacher announces the objectives of the lesson and she writes on the Bb two sentences (one in the past sp. and the other in the past cont.) The sentences are taken from the text discussed the previous classes (p. 15). She makes sure the students understand the sentences. Ss are asked to notice the difference between them and identify their structure. They write it on the Bb.

2. After the short past tense revision, the T tells the Ss to open their books at page 24 and solve individually exercise 1, grammar section.

After solving, the T gives feedback.

3. The teacher then applies the same revision method for used to/would, as/just as/when/while/as soon as/until and non-defining relative clauses.

After each short explanation, 2 each, she asks the Ss to solve exercises 3 and 4 from the grammar section. For the used to/would part the T gives the Ss a hand-out that they have to solve in pairs.

III. Feed-back

Teacher offers feedback and grades the most active Ss.

IV. Homework

Teacher announces what is the homework for the next lesson and explains what they have to do.
