Welcome to the world of high profile gossip!

Through step-by-step close reading of a variety of news articles (formats may include

reports, Q&A interviews, lists, etc.) from many popular news sources, the aim of this workshop

is to improve skills in summarizing and understanding news articles/clips and to develop

confidence in participating in casual English conversations about interesting and scandalous

entertainment news.

This workshop will primarily be in English (and Chinese, when necessary), with a focus

on reading entertainment news and follow-up conversation. At the end of the workshop,

students will be asked to show what they’ve learned by sharing and presenting current news

that they’re interested in or news from their own personal lives.

準備考雅思的同學

本工作坊提供針對雅思圖表分析(graph analysis)

以及議論文寫作(argumentation)的密集訓練。何謂一

篇好的英文作文?這問題的答案相當分歧。有人覺得

架構是一篇文章的骨架因而最重要,有人則認為用字

遣詞及文法句型對文章質感有重大的影響,也有人表

示清晰的思維整理才是決定一篇文章好壞的關鍵。這

些的確都是構成「一般」寫作的必備條件,但當討論

的是「考詴」寫作如雅思,衡量標準會是 (一)題目的

回答、(二)邏輯與立場的清晰 (三)用字遣詞、及(四)文

法廣度及正確性。在為雅思寫作做準備前,這兩種寫

作本質上的不同必須釐清,才能真正的習得寫作技巧,

而不會讓自己成為套用寫作模板的「工匠」。因此,英文寫作的要素與考詴寫作技巧會

是課程的核心。

課程前三週將聚焦在圖表分析,如長條圖(bar chart)、折線圖(line graph)、圓餅圖

(pie chart)、以及流程圖類 (flow chart)等。教師將帶領學生觀察上述圖表的特性以及用正

確的語彙來閱讀數據變化,進而培養針對圖表條件比較、對比和組織數據的能力。課程

最後三週的重心將會是議論文寫作,這類題型包括比較觀點、表達立場、提供問題的解

決方法及說明描述。教師將會透過閱讀範文訓練學生論證不同議題與歸納思維的能力。

此階段訓練也會說明寫作步驟,像是如何審題、如何架構、如何檢查等環節都會有詳盡

的介紹。

本課程的授課模式將會以教師授課、課堂討論以及寫作演練為主。雖聚焦寫作,但

在課堂上英文的聽、說、讀、寫能力都會受到密集地培植。歡迎有興趣的同學,一同參

本工作坊以幫助學生準備求職相關申請文件以及

演練面詴問題與相關應對技巧為目標。透過準備申請

文件,學生將對自己的人格特質、專業技能、以及未

來展望做深入的瞭解和探索,這樣的過程能替學生塑

造出自己在職場中獨一無二的「專業形象」(personal

brand)。

每週的課程內容將帶領學生(一)探索個人專業技

能 (skill) 和出眾特質 (selling point)、(二)分析求職廣

告 (job advertisement)、(三)學習履歷表 (resume) 和求

件並進行模擬面詴 (mock job interview)。以上學習焦點的順序即是求職必經的步驟,本

工作坊將在六週中詳細解說每個環節、檢視範例、並引導參與同學循序漸進地完成申請

文件並實際體驗求職面詴。

本工作坊適合已有求職計畫的同學參加,同時也歡迎對求職寫作有興趣的同學一同

來學習。為了營造好的學習環境及達到實際學習成效,本工作坊將採取教師授課、學生

討論、及實作演練的模式進行。本工作坊是一門以「求職」為核心同時訓練英語「寫作」

Integrated Essay task for the Writing section of the

TOEFL exam. The course will primarily cover the two

types of Integrated Essay prompts – “Synthesis of

how to develop the necessary listening and writing skills

to write good Integrated Essays. In addition, the course

欣賞,帶領學生練習英語文能力且初識電影鑑賞之方

法。學生於工作坊進行間將欣賞電影、準備並參與課

堂討論、並撰寫兩篇英語反思心得。

The tradition of the Disney Princess is one of

entertainment’s most successful and arguably most

influential franchises. It is a legacy that began in the

1930s and remains, thriving, to this day. Many of the

films are revered as classic animated films for both

children and adults, and close observation and

consideration of them, both separately and comparatively, always yield rich rewards. Through

exposure to, study of, and comparisons between selected films within and beyond the tradition,

this workshop aims to teach students the basics of film analysis while simultaneously practicing

their English abilities. Students are expected to watch the films, prepare task sheets, participate

in class discussions, and write two written reflections.
