Day 1 – Sunday 25th October 2020 L,D

Departing Sydney this morning, our journey takes us north with a morning tea stop along the way. Lunch today will be around Singleton and a afternoon break around Murrurundi. We stop in Breeza to see the Ben Hall Wall. Painted by well‐known artist Bronwyn Bassett the mural depicts the last three years of Ben Hall's life. Then continuing on we arrive in Gunnedah where we settle in to our motel and enjoy dinner at the onsite restaurant. Motel: Comfort Inn Harvest Lodge Motel, Gunnedah NSW

Day 2 – Monday 26th October 2020 B,L,D

This morning we farewell Gunnedah and continue north towards Narrabri. Known as “Big Sky” country, Narrabri’s seemingly endless horizons have facilitated the growth of the CSIRO Australia Telescope Compact Array, whose six radio telescopes are gleaming beacons of scientific advancement. To find out more about the telescopes we visit the fascinating visitors centre at the Paul Wild Observatory. North of Narrabri we take a slight detour to see the impressive Sawn Rocks. There is an easy walk (around 15 minutes each way) beside a shady creek bed which leads you to the spectacular rock formation with its unique organ-pipe cliff face. Continuing north along the Newell Highway we arrive in Moree, Australia’s Artesian Spa Capital. After lunch we are taken on a guided tour to learn about the history of this unique town. This afternoon we check in to our Moree accommodation which boasts its very own onsite Artesian Thermal Baths, both hot and cold options and indoor or outdoor. Dinner is also served onsite. Day 3 – Tuesday 27th October 2020 B,L,D

Today we take a short journey east of Moree to Biniguy where we are treated to a guided tour of Trawalla, the largest and most productive Pecan Nut plantation in the Southern Hemisphere. Trawalla is the landmark Stahmann Farms orchard property set on 700 hectares. Learn about all aspects of the farming from the properties history, pioneering farming methods and harvesting. After lunch today our journey takes us through Outback NSW to the unique and historic mining town of Lightning Ridge where we spend the next 2 nights. Dinner both nights is at the Lightning Ridge Bowling Club, which is directly opposite the motel. Motel: Wallangulla Motel, Lightning Ridge NSW (2 nights)

Day 4 – Wednesday 28th October 2020 B,L,D

An amazing day today as we spend a full day exploring the best of Lightning Ridge including Fred Bodel’s hut, historic Three Mile Flat, Lunatic Hill Open Cut Mine, Simms Hill Opals Fields, Amigo’s Castle, Bevan’s Opal Cactus Garden, the Bottle House, fossick for opals, learn about the famous Black Opal and explore the incredible Chambers of the Black Hand.

Day 5 – Thursday 29th October 2020 B,L,D

Departing Lightning Ridge we travel through Coonamble to Gilgandra where we learn the history of the Coo-ee March. See the town murals in Mendooran before arriving in Gulgong. Motel: Ten Dollar Town Motel, Gulgong NSW

Day 6 – Friday 30th October 2020 B,L

This morning, why not take a short stroll along the main street of Gulgong to admire the beautiful facades, broad verandahs and the elaborate wrought ironwork of the gorgeous historic town which was featured on the old $10 note. Before departing, we explore the very interesting Henry Lawson Centre and learn of the regions history then step inside a replica underground mining tunnel at the Gulgong Gold Experience. Our journey home today takes us through Rylstone where we pause for lunch before arriving back in Sydney around 6:30pm depending on traffic.
