Volunteers for Sacred Heart Rosters

We would like to invite parishioners to consider volunteering for the various ministries for weekend Masses. Volunteers are also needed for cleaning the church and assisting with monthly cup of tea after Mass. Please put your name down for pre-ferred ministry on sheets at the front door of the church. If you would like information sheets these are also available alongside the forms.

Vinnies Giving Tree

The Vinnies Advent giving trees will be up next weekend at both churches with tags for you to take and buy a gift for someone in need.

Christmas Cards in pack of 10 for $5 and Columban calendars for $10 are still for sale.

New Envelopes

Collect your new set of envelopes at the end of Mass today from the table by the front door (if you

haven’t already done so). You will need them as soon as next Sun-day.

There is also an acknowledge-ment letter for all parishioners who responded over the last few weeks. Please check with the per-son assisting.

If you haven’t joined in making a regular commitment to our parish please contact the parish office. You can obtain a set of weekly giving envelopes, or alternatively, arrange to give via bank transfer or direct debit.

Mass for family members who have died

Mass will be celebrated next Satur-day morning at 10.00am (18

th No-

vember) in Sacred Heart Church for families who are grieving for a family member or close friend who has died in the last 12 months.

As you arrive you will have the op-portunity to choose which list to add their name to. These names will be added to those who will be prayed for during the Mass.

What is it that holds us back from freely perusing the things that are

God’s. Our Collect prayer asks that we be freed from them.

A Health Issue

The desirability of receiving Communion under both kinds is constantly promoted in the liturgical books. The most frequent way of receiving the Precious Blood is to drink from the chalice. There is no suggestion in the rules of Communion that anyone should dip their Host into the Blood.

In our parish we have several Communicants who are gluten intolerant, and choose to only receive Communion under the form of the

wine. There is a danger to them should anyone dip their host into the wine, that particles of the host may remain in the wine.

For their safety, please do not dip the Communion Host into the wine in the chalice.
