YuStart : Objective

• This CII – Yi Bengaluru led competition supports students launching new business and social-impact ventures

• This will be conducted as an annual event starting 2015

Categories ¾ TECH STARTUP PLAN

9 E-commerce & Technology ventures with economic returns that drive substantial market value

¾ NON-TECH STARTUP PLAN 9 Non-Tech ventures with economic returns that drive substantial

market value ¾ SOCIAL ENTERPRISE STARTUP PLAN

9 Ventures that drive social change using nonprofit, for-profit, or hybrid models

YuStart : About the Challenge

• A multi-stage event - consists of rounds of presentation, review and feedback

• First round of screening will be done by CII-Yi Executive Council members

• Maximum of 15 Shortlisted applicants will present to the CII-Yi team at Bengaluru on 12/13 February 2015

• 5 Finalists will get opportunity to present to our esteemed panel of judges at the ‘CII-Yi Entrepreneurship Summit’

• Winners will be announced at the CII-Yi Entrepreneurship summit on 14 February 2014 in Bengaluru

• UG & PG students from across Indian Universities • Team size: Maximum of 4 members • Registration and startup plan submissions are online Registration Fee ¾ Rs 3,000 per team for Non CII-Yi Yuva Colleges ¾ Rs 2,000 per team for CII-Yi Yuva Colleges

YuSTart : Plan Submission • Executive Summary: 1 page write-up on the overall plan • Business concept: Describes the business, its product and the market it

will serve. It should point out just exactly what will be sold, to whom and why the business will hold a competitive advantage

• Financial requirements & Financial Projections: Clearly states the capital needed to start the business and to expand. Highlights the important financial points of the business including sales, profits, cash flows and return on investment

• Marketing Strategy & Competition Analysis: Pricing, Distribution, Promotion Plans, Sales potential, Competitive Strength Grid, SWOT, Current & Potential Competition etc.

• Current business position, Human Resource Plan & Major achievements: Details any developments within the company that are essential to the success of the business. Major achievements include items like patents, prototypes, location of a facility, any crucial contracts that need to be in place for product development, or results from any test marketing that has been conducted.

• References & Annexure must be submitted 5

YuSTart : Panel of Judges

• Judges for the business venture plan will be drawn from a variety of backgrounds, including funders, founders, industry experts and executives, lawyers, and other specialists deemed appropriate to understand the commercial viability of a business idea

• Judges for the social venture plan will be drawn from a

variety of backgrounds representing a range of industries, including those from funding organizations (including impact investors, philanthropists, and venture philanthropists), capacity building organizations, and social entrepreneurs 9

YuStart : Confidentiality of IP

• The only individuals who will have access to the materials participants submit will be the judges assigned to hear the pitch and review plans. These judges regularly deal with confidential information in the course of their work. We ask them to treat this work product with the same care and respect for confidentiality. We also ask them to remove themselves from judging your plan if they do have a real conflict of interest.

• Feel free to mark your materials as "confidential" and to request that the judges give you back hard copies of anything that has been distributed. Note that the short description of your idea which you include with your entry form may be used in public documentation relating to the competition.

• Teams will be making final presentations to an open audience. All reasonable measures to ensure the protection of intellectual property introduced and associated with the Competition will be taken.
