It had to be done.

Introduction

From its inception, the tinker has been a class thathighlights what can be done within the laws of physics.Where other technology classes go out and harness magicto build fireball cannons, the tinker harnesses science­as­magic and fills a sentient metal can with gunpowder toachieve the same effect. What happens, then, when thetinker begins to apply technology adapted from thatwhich lies beyond the stars?

Invention Subtypes Cheat Sheet

Alpha ­ Inventions with the alpha subtype can only beadded to an alpha automaton blueprint, and only onealpha invention can be added to an alpha automatonblueprint at any one time.

Arcanotech ­ Inventions with the arcanotech subtypeare adapted from magic, and since magic has a tendencyto make automatons malfunction, only a singlearcanotech invention can be added to a blueprint at anyone time.

Design ­ Inventions with the design subtype interactwith the designer innovation. Further, tinkers with thegrafter prestige class cannot graft inventions with thedesign subtype onto non­automaton creatures. Finally,the new wriggly decorator innovation treats all tentacleinventions as though they were also designs.

Firework ­ Inventions with the firework subtype differfrom most other inventions in that they represent neithernew automaton programming, nor fancy modules boltedonto the automaton's superstructure. Rather, fireworkinventions are special ammunition and occupy space incompartments as though they were alchemical goods.

Extended rules on how fireworks are launched are notincluded in this expansion, as no firework inventions arepresent.

Paint ­ Inventions with the paint subtype specificallyinteract with a number of inventions that layer on paintafter automaton deployment or consume layers of paintfor temporary benefit. An automaton can only have onepaint invention applied to it at any one time.

Propellant ­ Inventions with the propellant subtypemodify all fireworks present in a single compartment atthe time of automaton deployment. Only one propellantinvention can be added to a compartment full of fireworksat any one time.

Tentacle *NEW* ­ Tentacle inventions are additionalfunctions of the grafted tentacle invention. Only a singletentacle invention may be added to a blueprint, and thegrafted tentacle invention grants no benefit while atentacle invention is under active use.

Innovations

Tentacle Savant

Eldritch abominations tend to have tentacles rather thanarms and legs, and a true scion of their ineffable naturewill learn to make use of such versatile members muchsooner than their peers.

Prerequisite: Ability to learn 2nd­level inventions

Benefit: You learn the grafted tentacle invention as abonus invention. You do not need to meet itsprerequisites, and treat it as though it were a 2nd­levelinvention with a BP cost of 2. In addition, you treat allinventions with the tentacle subtype as though theirinvention level were 1 lower for the purpose of learningthem and adding them to blueprints.

Wriggly Decorator

A little wiggler here, another one there, and suddenlyasymmetry is beautiful!

Prerequisite: Designer innovation, tentacle savantinvention

Benefit: You treat all inventions with the tentacle subtypeas though they had the design subtype. In addition, youtreat the grafted tentacle invention as though it had a BPcost of 1.
