Winning projects 2017Product design: Syria 2087 by Anna Banout
Anna Banout – Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw“The Jury considered Syria 2087 an imaginative approach to raising awareness of Syria and the terribledestruction of its cultural heritage. Anna Banout’sevocative project stood out for her powerful use ofnarrative, craftsmanship and material and culturalreferences to capture elements of what could swiftly and terrifyingly soon become a lost culture.”
Jane Witthers, Head of product design jury
Fashion design: Swoi by Uta Sienkiewicz
Uta Sienkiewicz – Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw“Her work reflects pretty much the state of fashion andits place in the world today. Fashion is a mirror ofsociety, with all the instability, anger and fear, and lastbut not least hope. Uta’s deconstruction of the culturalstreet style codes is freshly interpreted and applied, using craftsmanship, cut techniques and print ideas inthe best way possible to present such a beautifulmenswear-towards-unisex collection. Uta has a great creative future ahead, and I am curiousto see what her next project will be. I am also happy thatDesigblok gave her exposure and publicity she deservesto move forward.”
